This isn’t a hipster review at least. Sowing has openly admitted to having no music taste years ago. They at least aren’t Electric City trying to be some contrarian about influential albums because it is cool to bash them. I would rather have my mother masturbate on my face than have to be subjected to listening to this garbage ever again. This is arguably the worst double album I have listened to since Chris Brown… I was mean to Sowing because they did put work into saying why they have no music taste yet I can’t write a 500 word review on my favorite albums.

So, guys, how is this much worse than her previous music?

I agree that e.g., the 1, cardigan, exile were probably better than the songs here. But it's not like So long London is many tiers below.

It's the same – fairly catchy break-up songs from a mid brow white girl in her 20s.

the lyrics are much much much worse. and that is saying a lot cause Ms Swift has never been a wizard of the words but this.... this is something only people in massive denial will like.

The 1 is terrible and lyrically trite in the same way as a lot of this, and Cardigan is a vapid LDR rip in the same way that a lot of this is - agree that it's not a huge step down in the scheme of her last few years, just obnoxious and hubristic that there's so much of it and it has so little to say for itself

I think there's a case to be made that the music here is certainly not THAT much worse than some of her other stuff, but it's at the very least still on the downward slide.

What really drags this things down, however, is the sheer length and the context surrounding it. If you've somehow managed to avoid that context -again, this is like maybe the most massive IF ever lol- then, again, there is maybe room for leniency here, but it's the same effect that has plagued Kanye (though the particulars are obviously MASSIVELY different lol). These artists make it impossible to divorce their lives from their music, and when the goings are good it can make the proceedings transcendent. But once that fuel starts to become fumes, a deathspiral occurs. I'd argue it began on midnights or the Taylor's Versions, and any version of TTPD is basically proof that she's cooked and washed imo
