some of the orchestration here is just bone-chillingly good, in fact, most of it is. :]

I'm not too much of a fan of Emperor, when being compared to other SBM bands. I prefer slower or mid-paced SBM like this or the albums I recommended (Obsidian Gate, Profanum, Summoning, to name a few). I still like emperor, but nowhere near as much as other SBM bands.

By the way, how was the review itself? Too fanboish? Borging? Short? Only got 2 pos'... Well, so far only one of my reviews has gotten 3 pos'. I want some feedback because I am planning to write another soon. Or even fix this and my previous ones.

Nothing will beat In the Nightside Eclipse, Dusk and Her Embrace, Enthrone Darkness Triumphant, or Seediq Bale for me in terms of symphonic black metal. However, the symphonic stuff has always been some of my favorite stuff so I like a lot more than just that. Those are my favorites though.

This sounds almost avant-garde. Not exactly Arcturus, but close to Solefald in their earlier days, but much darker. Still predominantly symphonic black metal at its core.

Love the dark, nocturnal atmosphere the synths create on this.

Once I too wanted people to love this. It's really something you need to share, like an unexpainable

experience.

Then of course you learn that individual perceptions are not at all similar. Oh, why can't they hear

the genius of LA's first 3 albums? Oh, why must they sully this masterpiece with their half-assed

attitude?

We can't share the important experiences, we can just hope that people who like this have

encountered the same unspeakable things.

"Meh, there's too much synth, the guitar is mixed low, I don't like drum mac-" SILENCE, PUNY

CREATURE.

Me too. Actually I initially rated this 4.5, because IAD is a bit better. But it just looked wrong.

Yeah this is pretty fantastic, no less than a 4.5. Unfortunately these are the only 2 albums I love from the band, although a lot of their other stuff is pretty good.

And I bought IAD and MITS, but my copy of MITS that I bought last month arrived new, unopened but audio quality is like... cut in half. Ugh. Fucking hell

I need a new copy. The one I have the damn audio is like stripped in half. Those reissues of their old albums were so poorly done it's ridiculous.
