I was not prepared for how good this is. Straight in at 4 but huge upside potential.

It is pretty great can confirm. Maybe less bangers than lore or roots but some cool ideas for sure

Vocals feel a bit stiff and flat but the lyrics are terrible so I don't mind the vocals at that much. The music and the way the songs seamlessly roll through the different movements is something incredible though.

Dad and I were talking about Elder's vocals yesterday and the comparison we both agreed on was Pink Floyd

Am I right in assuming that Nick does most of the songwriting? How the hell does one man contain so much music? The songwriting is off the charts.

Whoever digs this album should check out Robot God, song really great jams from the band and typically no vocals.

I don't regret buying this, but I'm not hearing any stoner. This is Elder moving forward into prog territory.

They’ve been prog for a while. Reflections was full of proggy sections and so was Lore, to a lesser extent. They’ve outdone themselves with this one, though. If the last album was a bit of a stepping stone, then this one fully embraces that sound but improves on it in every single way, especially the quality of the vocals and the way they’re implemented. Merged In Dreams is just absolutely flawless.

I feel like there was even very few stoner elements in Dead Roots as well. It always sort of leaned prog hard rock rather than stoner. I guess people apply the prog tag to any band that plays their instruments for longer than a minute at a time without vocals over the top?

Lore is when I became aware of them, but it wasn't until Reflections when I jumped on the wagon. It was this collaboration of stoner and prog, in equal measures, which piqued my interest. Nothing wrong with their current direction, but the thought that I probably have heard the best of them already, kinda makes me feel a little sad.

But then again, I still think of Vikingligr Veldi and Frost as Enslaved's finest hour, but that doesn't stop me from enjoying their prog era material. Pretty much in the same way, Lore and Reflections do not stop me from enjoying this, and it's overall flow definately is an improvement over Omens. So, there.

Lore and Reflections are some of the best in the genre. I be hesitant to jam this... been disappointed with their recent stuff.

Their stoner side isn't really in the field of fuzzy sabbath worship, they fit much moreso in the spacier side of the genre. Their sound lies less in an Electric Wizard and more in the field of Causa Sui or Mantra Machine

But make no mistake, it's definitely still stoner rock

I do appreciate this space rock influence, actually.

Haven’t heard it yet. Hoping more like Reflections, which is god tier, versus Omens which was a bore fest

dropped my rating because it's a bit too much like Omens, but it's still an improvement tho
