fucking trent releasing another album without providing me ample time to prepare...
^^^^ Still has to save up cash to obtain 95% of music.

With a few exceptions, this is pretty much a solid hour of boredom.

The Rolling Stone review of this album was absolutely horrendous.

You should write for them.

it took me forever to break into this album. the whole subdued feel put me off badly at first, the bass always seemed massively distorted along with the drums and everything seemed to be the same.
the concept itself is something that kept me going and as i continued to listen to it, i heard beyond the distorted bass and drums that all sounded the same and actually noticed that the music was textured very subtly. and the subtly was enough to make all the songs decidedly different.
i'd say there aren't any 'classic' songs on this album like head like a hole and closer and all that, but the album itself is probably one of the strongest trent reznor has released in a long time because it flows so well

The concept of the album is what got my attention. The message behind the album was far more interesting to me than the music itself. Don't get me wrong though the music is good, but only one song, God Given, really stood out to me.This Message Edited On 04.25.07This Message Edited On 04.25.07

The Downward Spiral is much more accessible than Year Zero, but hey, it's great.

Gonna check this out.

This album is WAY better than With Teeth, although that was a good album.
I can see why you wouldn't like this, though. However, the reason the music is so noisy and glitchy is that, well, look at all the websites associated with the concept. The music is the sonic manifestation of the imagery of the webquest thingy.
I can believe you when you say 'talent' and 'Rob Zombie' together...but Manson? Honestly, the shrooms are bad for you.

Brilliant writing. I really want your job man. This has to be the best review I've read on this great website. Keep up the fantastic work.

This got a pretty bad rating in a magazine I read, but everyone seems to be contradicting it.

Reznor is smart and for once he's applying that.

very nice review....one of the better ones i've read in a while.
Just got this. Loving it so far. I agree with you saying that the music draws you in.
About the concept of the album..... loving the back cover.... fits in well with everything. But why is it stick-on? I'm scared to remove it and yet it's really flimsy.

this would make a good movie, per se, The Wall?
looks like this might be another one to get...

So NIN is one of my favorite bands of all time, but i just can't get into this release.
I miss the live instruments, i miss the instrumental tracks, i miss the angst, i miss the emotion. I understand that Trent is at a different point in his life, but i just feel that he is capable of so much more.
