I hate the idiots who say they want more Vortex and less Shagrath. It was Shagrath that got me into Dimmu and I want that kind of style to stay the same. Don't get me wrong though Vortex does kick ass...

Vortex is better in small doses. He's used perfectly in this band. How did you give this album a 5?

Why not? I think its a lot better than Death Cult, and all the other albums for that matter. Due largely in part to Vortex's input.

I'll agree with you that this is really good, but not worthy of a classic rating.

Never really grew into this band although i've been into metal for years. This record grew off of me quickly although it has a couple cool tracks, mainly being The Sacreligious Scorn and Serpentine Offering. Production is pretty damn clear though.

Listen to the original version of Stormblast. That should get you into this band because that album is great.

This is definitely not a 5. Its really good, but after a while it gets a little boring. Most tracks sound the same. Doesnt bring the album down, but it makes it somewhat boring and therefore not a 5.

Man, sorry but I totally hate this band. I can't enjoy things like this. Although as is usually the case with this type of metal, I quite like the album cover.

I would say try something different to try to get into this genre, but this album is probably the most accesible you can get for Black Metal.

Black metal just isn't for me then. I just think bands like this try too hard to be scary or whatever. It's the same problem with a lot of horror movies: no subtlety, no beauty before the kill to make it more jarring. Just "BARRHHH WE WORSHIP DARKNESS." It just makes me laugh.

Not all Black Metal bands are like that. One of my favorite Black Metal bands (Primordial) are more into talking about their homeland and putting a lot of folk elements into their music.

He knows for a fact thats not what Black Metal is about. Besides, this type of genre has way more depth than some of the shit people are listening to these days. And yes I was probably too generous when I gave this album a 5...

Dimmu Borgir isn't black metal

A mallgoth chick in my school had an In Sorte Diaboli shirt on today though, made me chuckle.

Theyre certainly more black metal than Cradle of Filth.
