Band started as c-tier metalcore and just got worse over time

I agree with one of the sound-offs that most of the songs had considerable potential, but they were all treated as finished pieces when they were still at a very uninteresting level.
They should set a threshold for their work, below which they have to be brave enough to discard or polish until they reach it. I still have hope for the band, the album isn't terrible, certainly not good enough.

it really is quite bad but gonzo (lovely guy) bless him has such a high tolerance for shitty radio metal he can somehow look past the lyrics and metalcore tropes

yeah it would be hard to get more generic than this but im sure theres something out there
Hollow Crown is still the only lp from this band worth listening to imo. the rest have the odd highlight but are rarely consistent

i am desensitised to this genre, i'll admit. but metalcore is so creatively emaciated i have no respect for it, or standards for that matter. architects follow the trend, but for me their execution is far less irritating or abhorrent. and agreed, the lyrics are terrible/cringe. but again, i expect nothing less at this point

I think HC and LF/LT are their best by having the Architects songs I like the most, but I don’t think I’ve ever been able to find any of their albums consistently interesting or engaging all the way through
The songs I do like, I really like though. Have always wanted more than I got from them in that regard

Well this record is
Bad

I sometimes wonder with bands like this, where they make a noticeable pivot to a more more commercial sound, whether their hearts are really in it. Must be soul destroying to play the stuff live every night if there’s naysayers in the band.

Album is ok but a new moral low ground is definitely the best thing architects have written post Holy Hell imo, what a great track. Blows everything else on here out of the water imo

This is basically just a more refined version of their last album which makes it mostly just more boring

Was kinda expecting to like this because I thought the last album was decent even though no one else did. But Jesus H Christ this production is the worst I’ve ever heard. I legit thought it was playing on a radio station I was just out of reach of. There’s a constant static in the background.
