I'm two songs in and this kiiiiiinda sounds like the core side of Lamb of God with vox like Randy Blythe/the guy from Gorjira, and all that polyrhythmic DEI-era Meshuggah-ness. The breakdowns are straight-up Destroy Erase Improve/Chaosphere.

I didn't like this much at all. Could barely finish it. Just a few redeeming qualities kept me going.

The reasons why I believe this to be such an impressive album have depleted a little since original listens but I still think this is miles ahead of most technical metal bands.
There is definite Meshuggah influence but I think Car Bomb definitely puts their own slant on the music - I admit that the clean vocals aren't the best but the actual instrumentals in the clean sections are marvellous imo. This release has worn off me a little bit - I'm not going to change my original rating just yet but I might drop it down to a 4 at some point.
It really perplexes me why Tyler (amongst others) have rated this so low however. I think Car Bomb, even if someone wasn't necessarily a fan of the music, could see the musicianship side of things and appreciate it for what it is. Oh well - I guess thats why opinions are opinions.
