I have to say, based on the singles this album was actually a pleasant surprise. Certainly not the abomination I had feared.
"I'm sorry but what raw talent are they bringing to the commercial sound? What exactly are they doing that cant be replicated? Sam is giving you dime-a-dozen choruses that anyone else could've came up with. The guitars riffs are extremely tame, not doing anything to stand out from other more mainstream rock/radio friendly core bands. The drumming...zzzzz. Nothing noteworthy on that front either. They aren't even really experimenting with different song structures, its the same formula all across the board."
They still managed to utilize synths effectively to create a much more dense atmospheric tone than other generic stuff this will inevitably get compared to.
I mean, the band is or at least was talented. Very, very talented. I'm not exactly sure what they brought over talent wise though, closer to completely suffocating it. If anything the most frustrating part about this/most recent albums are brief moments showcasing the many years in hibernation talent at this point.

I think this album is criminally underrated and I don't think you have to play complicated riffs in 19/8 to show off your talent. I love the hooks and vocals and synth.
I'm going to dissent

Agh I’m sorry architects, one of my favorite bands ever, but this is trash. There’s no showcasing of any of the band member’s instrumental abilities, and the lyrics are absolutely cringeworthy. Architects are way too talented to be releasing instantly forgettable stuff like this.
