Even if the suspension is only a year, they'll be banking an absurd amount of money on a guy that hasn't played a down in two years. Meanwhile, Garrett, Chubb, etc. all get older and lose their prime years or start demanding some big money.

Not a Mayfield fan either, but the dude was undoubtedly screwed by the organization. Wins them their first playoff game in who knows how long, gives stability to the QB position, then he gets injured and the coaching staff refuse to pull him.
Athletes at that level are very reluctant to pull themselves out of a game. If your player is hurt and actively damaging themselves and the team, it's the responsibility of the coach to step in. They undermined the hell out of Baker for a dude that is, by many accounts, a sexual predator and potential rapist. Good job!

As a note Pencil, I forgot to mention to you that I’m definitely intrigued to see how Trey does. Definitely a big gamble but I have huge respect for Shanahan.
And yeah… regardless of anything this season is going to be absolutely bonkers.

I'm psyched, I'm expecting Lance to be "good". maybe not great like say, kaepernik when he first started but lance's ceiling is salivating
as for baker i think he's going to be a good fit for carolina as long as he heals and can survive the inevitable coaching change.

I think the dynamic between Niners, Rams and Seahawks fans is interesting. The Niners always beat the Rams, the Rams always beat the Seahawks and the Seahawks always beat the Niners so we all can’t really say we’re better than each other. All teams had great lineups (except for the Seahawks circa right now… Poor Pete…)

the fact his extension is only 3 years makes trading him a little easier, but that's in more a nightmare scenario which aren't a stranger with this franchise. say what you want about the niners but at least they're rarely boring.
