Stadium was alright, I'm With You is terrible though.

Awe man I love By the Way, and Stadium would be my fav if it was cut down a bit

Then again I'm one of the few that prefer chill Peppers to their funkier stuff

Well I mean that a lot of people really like Mother's Milk and BSSM, whereas I gravitate toward Californication and By the Way more than their other stuff

Though yeah, I get what you mean. Their really early stuff doesn't have that many fans

This is why early peppers rule, they were just so laid back and silly haha, especially Anthony.

Freaky Styley is absolutely amazing until the second half where it drops off super hard

I liked Freaky Styley's 2nd punk rock side, but yeah I can see what you mean, it kinda seems irrelevant to what the band achieved on the first side (funk).

Could have been a 2.5, but I raised to a 3 out of respect for Flea. Seriously, just a bunch of average funk jams for me. Not a single great riff or line just generic upon generic jams. The drum sound is atrociously 80's, the guitarist is just another funk player and Kiedis has a long road until BSSM.

Edit: Fuck Flea, this is a 2 and that's that. Only Buckle Down, Get Up And Jam and Out In L.A. are somewhat more interesting

I don't get accusing this of being "generic" and "lacking creativity" I mean this was recorded in the early 80s. can't name many bands at that time doing this sorta thing, for what it's worth

it's not about what contemporary groups were doing. Someone with a solid knowledge on funk music would see this as the average collection of jams I find it to be, imho

I don't think its that bad, Buckle Down's particularly good and Mommy, Where's Daddy is pretty funny though creepy...

yeah, it's not awful. it has its moments, but apart from Flea (and maybe Kiedis' rap?) I find it very derivative
