The entire album is within the 3-3.5 range without much dipping or raising in quality. very plaintively okay album but no bad songs IMO. hardwired had "spit out the bone" but also lots of their worst material.

Hardwired is the exact same quality as this yeah. It has spit out the bone which is better than anything here. And moth into flame. But there's also way more filler. The entire second disc other than spit is filler lol

i maintain that this album is a lot more fun than Hardwired and I dig the NWOBM influence all over this one. hardwired has higher peaks but much lower lows and the album as a whole sounds so boring, repetitive, and uninspired. like at least 4 of those songs have the exact same main riff and structure. 8 years to write copy and paste bullshit.

but yeah "spit out the bone" is insane and moth and atlas are both good. i don't know any song off 72 i'd call awful, but it desperately needs a spit out the bone and doesn't have it.

Completely agree man. Manunkind,am I savage, murder one, dream no more, now that were dead. All those more or less sound like the exact same midtempo boring song lol. You can barely tell them apart

Death magnetic was the last exhale of this band before passing away. Some of dm goes pretty fucking hard. Hardwired had those two sonoma mentioned that were kinda cool. Nothing is cool on this album

I like Now That We're Dead, pretty catchy especially the pre-chorus. And it's not a favorite but I too can dig some Dream No More yeah. Confusion is also another one I can save

See I think DM is awful and the last 2 are decent. And yep songs like Now that we’re dead and Dream no more are what they’re about these days

DM slaps imo. Easily their best post 80s.

based couldn’t have said it better myself, even the moth into flame part… out of all those mid tempo tracks that’s easily the most memorable

“DM slaps imo. Easily their best post 80s.”

also based and I think it’s better than Kill Em All and I don’t care about the heat I’m gonna get for that. When people talk about the four Metallica albums that are good, I know they’re talking about the first four but I’ll always go “Oh Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, Justice… and Death Magnetic?” God I got this one guy at a slayer show with it so good, the look on his face was just priceless.

I do think that you could legitimately get one great record’s worth of material out these last two albums. But god yeah there’s just so much filler. On both. And so many songs are so unnecessarily long. Which I feel like is a complaint people have had with this band for years but it’s so much more noticeable when nearly every fucking song is longer than 6 minutes and just constantly has repeated riffs and whole song segments that could be shortened. These are two good 45 minute albums stretched out to almost twice that

but oddly enough the longest song here actually ended up being the best so wtf do I know. Spit Out the Bone was long too but I don’t think it was the longest track on that record? I remember there being one obnoxiously long track somewhere in the middle of hardwired that just bored me to tears.

I don’t have the strength to listen to either record in their entirety at this point

I wanna say it was Halo on Fire just because it’s 8 fucking minutes long but I don’t think that’s the exact song I’m talking about. It had to have been on the second disc because I vividly remember how bored I got the more the album went on and just this one song in particular broke me until Spit Out the Bone slapped me in the teeth

honestly, now that Inamorata spelled it out, I believe this band would rather make Load 3 if they didn't feel the need to act thrashy for the public

and speaking of past albums... they really had to place an Enter Sandman knock-off and a Sad But True one together in the tracklist lol

"also based and I think it’s better than Kill Em All"

That is also based. Kill Em All is great but it is far from their most exciting and ambitious music. It delivers some great basic thrash but not much more. Death Magnetic isn't exactly reinventing the wheel either but it has far more impactful moments and more memorable riffs, dare I say. I guess DM just fits more in line from what I want from Metallica than KEA (like a modern 84-89 era Metallica).

Nah, a decent chunk of Load is shit. You may have an argument if Load was just the best off Load and Reload but no, it is bloated.
