Under-rated Michigan quartet The Swellers don't target reinvention on 5th LP 'The Light Under Closed Doors'. Settling into their style, the hard-working punk-rockers do sound a little rawer here, without sacrificing their hooky melodies. Extremely lean at just 30 minutes in length, the band bleed authenticity with not a gimmick to be heard. Glorious guitar lines, an accomplished rhythm section & detailed song-writing add to the relateable lyrics & passionate vocals. So, while this is a bit predictable to be their best LP, it is another consitent addition to The Swellers' discography. Recommended Tracks: Big Hearts, Favorite Tune, Great Lakes State & Friends Again.
