Review Summary: All in all this is a solid effort from Blinded Colony and with only 9 tracks it leaves u begging for more.
Blinded Colony, previously known as Stigmata are a Swedish based Metal band who‘s sound can be categorised into the Scandinavian death metal scene incorporating and heavily influenced by the Gothenburg sound. It’s hard to say they’re anything groundbreaking as they follow the same path as bands such as Soilwork but they do so in a good way.
Members:
Johan Schuster – vocals
Tobias Olsson – guitar
Johan Blomstrom – guitar
Roy Erlandsson – bass
Staffan Franzen – drums
The album kicks of with a bang, a single guitar is heard and all of a sudden blinded colony kick in with a pure adrenaline filled opener “My Halo”. In fact the majority of this nine track album follows suite, its full of fast paced drum lines, thick bass and crushing guitars but this is where ill stop. One thing I couldn’t shake out of my head when listing to this album through was how all of the guitar riffs reminded me of Soilwork apart from the odd song guitar wise there is nothing new here. Despite this Johan is an amazing vocalist, his growl reminds me of Ander’s (In Flames vocalist for all of those cave dwellers) higher pitched screaming and his singing voice is pretty awesome to, in fact some of Johan’s finest moments are the more melodic sections.
Ok more about the album ey. Well The album opener is just perfect and is what u should expect from a young metal band. Its fast paced and just doesn’t let up, pure testosterone filled metal. The tempo drops a bit for the title track unfortunately but still “Bedtime Prayers” contains some pretty good guitar riffage and synth sounds, but then “Once Bitten Twice Shy” kicks in. Damn this song is good, I can see this being a great mosh, sing along track, it is more then worthy of being Blinded colonies first single. The middle section of the album follows suite bringing more catchy chorus’s and great but almost plagiarised guitar riffs, highlights from here are “Revelation, Now!” which tackles religion, a track worth downloading.
The last to songs if the album are definitely worth listening out for, track 8 “In Here” starts with probably the most original well thought out riff on the album and just doesn’t let up, its chorus is massive and its breakdowns are bone crushing. This track was the first I ever heard from Blinded colony and I’m glad it was shown to me, download it or better still buy the album (not because I’m saying you have to but because I don’t really agree with downloading… For some reason! The album finisher “Heart” is another stand out track and brings the album to a nice close. It’s the most melodic song o the album and the bands second single, the verses are sung with screamed breakdowns and an emotional chorus.
So If you’re a fan of Soilwork, new In Flames material and other young melodic death metal bands check this album out but don’t expect anything new just expect a fun listen.

Great Vocalist

Unoriginal guitar riffs
The middle of the album is somewhat forgettable. At least the beginning and end are great!
