3.5 great | theTourist | May 7th 24 | Much of his album is way better than you'd expect from a band that's essentially another Peter Hook side project after Revenge failed to gain momentum. Its strongest moments - the strikingly catchy opening three tracks and the nine-minute centerpiece "Junk" - are on the same level as much of New Order's best work and are absolutely worth seeking out. The remaining songs range from decent to corny (the ballads are particularly forgettable) and feel like the product of a band still trying to form its own identity. But the highlights are so damn good that they make the whole experience enjoyable enough.
