I'm one of the four people who actually
liked metal, sure some lyrics were cheesy af
and the production was pretty bland, a
couple of bad songs, still
Waters was great as always, some tracks like
Haunted and downright dominate were terrific
thrash pieces, Mangini was a
machine and i always found Padden to be one
of the most underrated vocalists in metal.
When i first heard the new version of
downright dominate i was pretty pissed off
about how bad Stu's vocals were, the best
part of that song besides Laiho and Waters
dual solo, were the clean/growl alternation,
now replaced by Phil Anselmo cheap
imitation. BUT, i have to say that Block was
really interesting in many other songs and
versatile almost like Padden. The new
version of Couple suicide is a surprisingly
good combination of pop and metal, Clown
parade's vocals sounds like a combination of
Petrozza and Souza, not to mention his high
pitched screams. The production is ten times
better and Lombardo is awesome aswell. I
still think that Padden worked better in
some songs (Haunted, my favorite off the
original release had better vocals)still i'm
interested in Stu Black's future with
Annihilator. Actually i'd rather preferred a
compilation in which Annihilator covered a
song from each album with the new line-up.
P.s. wonder why they just cut the drum solo
from detonation which was the best part of
the song.

What a strange release. Some of the worst tracks from the original got a lot better
with rerecorded vocals and drums (Couple Suicide, Army of One), while some of the better tracks
from the 2007 album (Downright Dominate, Kicked) are now ruined because the drum tracks under the
(untouched) solos are now played at literally half speed. Why did you go recruit Dave Lombardo for
this just to have him play nu-metal drums under the (former) most high-energy sections of the
entire album? Who thought crispy new 2022 vocal and drum tracks would mesh well with the untouched
fifteen-year-old guitar tracks? IdontgetitImsorryIjustIdontgetit.flac

can we compare this to Clayman (REEEEEE-Recorded) from In Flames?
