Release Date: 2002 | Tracklist

Black Majesty, an energetic new power metal band, hailing from melbourne, Australia, with the debut release of their Sands Of Time EP/promo.

The Sands Of Time EP, released in 2002 in the lead up of their first album, Sands Of Time, which recieved much credit from the metal scene down under, as well as from their German recording label, LMP (Dungeon, Galloglass).

Tracks

1. Fall Of The Reich - A very nice fast tempo'ed opening track for the EP, gives an idea of what is to come and expect of Black Majesty. The song opens with a spoken word intro: "Blackout retrictions were imposed, with varying success", which leads into a furious double-kicking intro, setting the feel for the rest of the song. The energy is carried on throughout the whole song, which an awesome solo finishing the opening song. Great introduction to the EP and Black Majesty. 4.5/5

2. Guardian - Leaving you no time to recover, the EP continues to impress with Guardian. This song opens with some nice double kicking on the drums with the addition of both the guitarists at play. The verse kicks in with awesome vocals from John Cavaliere, frontman, viewed as one of Australia's greatest vocal talents. The song progresses to the climax of the song, with a vocal/guitar breakdown with john just screaming out "Guardian!" at the top of his lungs; very effective and empowering, true to the power metal genres.

3. Beyond Reality - Finishing the short EP with Beyond Reality, everything fits perfectly on this track; melody, arrangement, while still maintaining a sure heaviness. Going in a bit over 8 minutes, Beyond Reality ends the EP on a high note. My favourite track here. 5/5; masterpiece.

This self produced EP is a sure introduction to Black Majesty, and the Power Metal genre. I highly recommend Sands Of Time to all you metalheads out there, whether into Power Metal or not.

cheers.
