It's hard to believe this is the same Hooverphonic that wrote the classic track, Eden, back in the late 90's. I admit I haven't followed this band since then, but when listening to The Night Before I was shocked to hear what was coming out of my headphones. Instead of chilled, downtempo electronica, I was "graced" with what I like to call adult contemporary (you know, that stuff your parents listen to on the radio). Bashing the album based on that would be unfair (as I am guilty of listening to some of this music sometimes), but it was just unbelievably generic; a very weak attempt at mainstream jazz along with average vocals.
