By no means Vijay Iyer's best work but I still enjoyed Tirtha a whole lot. The experimental nature is on high right from the start with 'Duality'. Those classic Vijay Iyer tunes are still here but with a tribal theme blushing throughout the nine tracks. My main problem is that Tirtha unearths most of its tricks too early on that later tracks; while still great, are expected and don't really surprise me. In other words, it's too coherent. I feel Vijay Iyer could have mixed things up during the record.
