Review Summary: This EP is best suited for 80's kids who are having a nostalgic phase, and thus would probably be best listened to on vinyl. Favorite Track: Pac-Man (Power-Pill Mix)

The Pac-Man EP is a tribute to the Pac-Man video game, but more specifically, the Pac-Man theme song. It contains five tracks: 4 remixes and a radio edit of the Power Pill Mix. It was never a huge or even very popular album at all, and is only worth having if you're an uber-fan of RDJ.

I had heard the original track [Pac-Man (Power-Pill Mix)] long before I knew about Aphex Twin, after stumbling across a fan video on YouTube some 4 years ago. I downloaded the song and had it on my mp3 player for about a year before I found out it was a creation of Richard's and had other remixes. This mix, however, is still my favorite, because it uses only samples from the video game and an original beat, maintaining the magic and nostalgia of the original video game.

The next track is titled the "Ghost Mix."The reason for this becomes clear within the first 20 seconds. Essentially, this mix consists of the one Pac-Man theme song sample, a spooky, "ghost-like" synth melody and a deep bass break beat. Much more sombre and creepy sounding than the original mix.

The next two remixes are created by two guys I've never heard of. The first, "Choci's Hi-Score Mix" is a very funky, spunky ode to the ol' arcade. It's main feature is a young boy's voice saying weird things, arcade game sound effects, and a vintage-sounding piano in the middle. The composition of this track reminds me of a sprinkled jelly-filled donut, which is why I am now hungry.

Speaking of donuts, the next remix, entitled, the "Yum Yum Mix" is distinguished by the crazy gate effects used on the Pac-Man samples, and the cash register samples taken from Pink Floyd's song, Money. Very edgy track, but much like the previous two remixes, sounds too close to being an original to compare with the Power Pill Mix.
