Before moving to Brooklyn, Eprhyme played a pivotal role in establishing a diverse and positive hip hop community in Olympia, Wa.- the dark and mythic homeland of D.I.Y. grunge, punk, Riot Grrrrl, and other underground art forms. Eprhyme has built a reputation both as a dynamic performer and an inspiring lyricist. He appears in a wide range of venues, from clubs to synagogues to youth detention centers.
Eprhyme’s debut solo album, WAYWORDWONDERWILL, is a kaleidoscopic counter-cultural exchange program formystics, punks and b-boys. The album features production by Smoke of Oldominion and guest vocal appearances by artist, activist and author Nomy Lamm. Lyrically, Eprhyme is a well versed tour guide who owes as much to Noam Chomsky and Robert Anton Wilson as he does to Nas and Aesop Rock.
WAYWORDWONDERWILLfeatures two 7in. singles released by indie-pop icon K Records as part of its International Pop Underground series. "Punklezmerap" is an up-tempo conscious club meets klezmer cannonball, and "Shomer Salaam"is a politically and spiritually charged Middle Eastern dancehall mash up. WAYWORDWONDERWILLis Hip Hop for healers and hitchhikers, boombap for beatniks and belly dancers, rap music for revolution and renaissance...and "it's a welcome breath of fresh air”.
