Wrapped in bandages and touring in a 1960s ambulance The Mummies are a band that is sure to stand out. After forming in 1988the band became well known in San Francisco's garage punk scene. Rejecting mainstream music The Mummies created "BudgetRock", an idea that promoted do-it-yourself mentality over stardom and professionalism. Following this concept, the band onlypresented their music on vinyl until the early 2000s when they embraced CDs. They only recorded music on often outdated anddamaged equipment which only emphasized their lofi garage punk sound. The Mummies today are rather reclusive, with their mostrecent album released in 2003, and their sporadic concert appearances (most recently in 2009).
