The Swingers was a short lived post-punk band from New Zealand. Formed in 1978 shortly after the departure of Split Enz vocalist/guitarist Phil Judd and drummer Buster Stiggs, The Swingers are best known for their 1980 single “Counting the Beat”, which reached the top of the charts in both their home country and New Zealand. The group released only one album, 1980’s “ Practical Jokers”, before splitting in 1982.
