Anorexia Nervosa is a French symphonic black metal band, formed in 1995 from the remnants of Necromancia, an earlier death metal project. In their infancy, they showed elements of industrial metal, with dark wave for ambience, particularly throughout 1997's 'Exile'. This sound was to change towards "dark nihilistic metal" after the replacement of vocalist Stéphane Gerbaud, and guitarist Marc Zabé by vocalist Rose Hreidmaar and keyboardist Ned Xort, which they are now most recognised for.The success following 2000's 'Drudenhaus' would last five or-so years, before Hreidmaar would depart, and the band put on the backburner. In 2009, they released the compilation album 'Disturbed', which has been their only activity since.
