Unfortunately Sputnikmusic does not seem to able to handle any non-English characters. So it should be clarified, before saying anything else about the band, that its name is not "Gate" in the English sense of the word. It should have a ring above the letter "a," thereby spelling a Norwegian word meaning "riddle."

Their vocalist was Gunnhild Sundli. Fiddle and keyboards were played by Sveinung Sundli. The bassist was Gjermund Lando (with a diagonal slash through the letter "o"), who also occasionally contributed backing vocals. Synth, synth-guitar, and guitar were handled by Magnus Robot Bormark(also with a slash through the letter "o" in the last name). Their drummer was Kenneth Kapstad.
They formed in 1999. Their debut full-length album, Jygri, got them the Spelleman award for Best New Artist. However, they separated on September 6, 2005, and are no longer active. « hide |
