and began playing drums as Michael was his musical figure in his life. At 9 years old, Nick moved to LA with his family so that his father could
pursue his music career.
Nick’s childhood consisted of old playstation video games, watching rocket power on Nickelodeon, and making his own cassette tape
recordings with his dad's hand held tape recorder. After picking up a little bit of guitar and keys, he started writing music and began to record
doodle tracks and demos when he was 13 on cassette tapes.
Nick would take the sounds from old computer games and play along with his cheap keyboard. With no experience and being self-taught, Nick
began to realize his passion for music. After taking up part-time jobs to buy cheap recording equipment, he taught himself to record and
produce tracks on his laptop with the rest of it being history.
As Nick Drive began writing his EP “Providence”, he was phased by his roots and focused on 90s style electronic music, rock, and smooth jazz.
Going through dark seasons he felt this EP was his best outlet. He played guitar, keys, bass, drums and even sang on all the tracks. He even
used old floppy disks and samplers to create his tracks. All of this was done in his little bedroom studio in LA. « hide |
