The Real People is a britpop band from England. First formed in 1987, the group’s sound helped create the madchester style that was massively popular in the UK throughout the early 90’s, alongside the much more known Happy Mondays, The Farm, Charlatans and The Stone Roses. In 1991, The Real People released their first full length album, which was self-titled, to moderate mainstream success, although became vastly more known by 1994 for their discovery and production of Oasis’s first demos, leading Oasis to be signed.

In 1991, The Real People released their first full length album, which was self-titled, to moderate mainstream success, although became vastly more known by 1994 for their discovery and production of Oasis’s first demos, leading Oasis to be signed.
The Real People released a dozen more singles and one more album in 1996, “What's on the Outside”, which was a commercial failure. The group planned to release their third album afterwards, “Closer”, which ended up getting postponed all the way through 2002, but ultimately never was released due to the band splitting that year. In 2006, The Real People reunited, and later released their third official album “Think Positive”, leaving “Closer” to still be unreleased. The Real People remain active today, touring and releasing material somewhat regularly. « hide |
