| New Stuff I've Been Getting Into
Just a bunch of stuff I've been enjoying recently. Most of them have been from reading reviews, talking to users/staff in comment sections and just being on Sputnik in general. | 1 | | Icarus The Owl Love Always, Leviathan
A very cool progressive/pop punk hybrid. A fantastic album with some very technical part writing and great vocals. | 2 | | House of Heroes Cold Hard Want
A very quirky rock/alternative band. Really digging the stuff I've heard so far. | 3 | | Karnivool Themata
Really dug 'Sound Awake' so I decided to do some research on their previous stuff and really enjoyed 'Themata.' Both are excellent albums. | 4 | | The Black Keys El Camino
An awesome bluesy, rock band. These two guys have been around for a while and have finally been getting some much deserved attention in the last few years. | 5 | | Dead Letter Circus This Is The Warning
Another cool Aussie band. Found out about them after reading up on Karnivool. Really been enjoying these Australian rock/progressive bands. | 6 | | Killing Joke MMXII
Became interested in these guys after reading Sowing's review of this album. Really cool/weird stuff. Took me a while to get into to it, but was glad I took the time after it all sunk in. | 7 | | Mayday Parade A Lesson In Romantics
An excellent pop punk band. Loved the dual vocalists set up, too bad one of them left after the album was released. A suggestion from Davey Boy when I mentioned I like bands with multiple lead vocalists. | 8 | | Go Radio Lucky Street
Ex-Mayday Parade member, Jason Lancaster's band. More good ol' pop punk with some rock too. | 9 | | Deaf Havana Fools And Worthless Liars
A former post hardcore band gone rock. I think they are much better off for it after listening to some of their previous stuff. Vocalist has an excellent voice. | 10 | | Young Guns All Our Kings Are Dead
Another solid rock outfit. Also picked up their new album 'Bones,' but enjoyed this one more so far. | 11 | | We Are The Ocean Maybe Today, Maybe Tomorrow
Another former post hardcore band gone rock. Like Deaf Havana, I think they are better off that way. They also have a very talented lead vocalist. Got into this after reading Davey's review last month. | 12 | | The Graduate Only Every Time
Another great pop punk band. Been listening to this and 'Anhedonia' a lot. These guys, Mayday Parade and Icarus the Owl have been getting me back into my old pop punk days. | 13 | | Me The Nomad The Evil Opera
Ex-Halifax vocalist Mike Hanau's band. They have released a few EPs over the last couple years, both are solid. Has a Halifax vibe but with some new, welcomed additions. | |

10.11.12 | Been trying to get into more rock and progressive stuff lately. If anybody wants to throw any suggestions my way, go for it. | OmairSh
10.11.12 | I haven't heard any of these bands :P. But if its prog you're looking for Riverside is a great band, check out their Second Life Syndrome, or if you like it heavy than ADHD is a prog masterpiece. Porcupine Tree DeadWing and In Absentia are great as well. | Ecnalzen
10.11.12 | Ha ha, some of them are a little on the obscure side. Thanks, I will check them out. | Calc
10.11.12 | Try a band called Heart To Heart they're an aggressive pop-punk band
and adebisi shank is an excellent math rock band | Atari
10.11.12 | agreed heart to heart blew me away | Ecnalzen
10.11.12 | Riverside is pretty cool so far, thanks for the rec Omair.
It took a bit, but I finally found one song by Heart to Heart on Youtube. It's called "I Slept it Off." I liked it, but the vocalist might be an acquired taste for me. Where did you guys find their stuff? I am having some issues. | Strider
10.11.12 | Circa Survive's last two albums. | OmairSh
10.12.12 | No problemo | Ecnalzen
10.12.12 | I've never listened to Circa Survive, I'll try them out too. Thanks, Strider. | Calc

10.12.12 | Thanks, Calc. This is much better than what I listened to, lol. | Calc
10.12.12 | the whole thing is really good if you want it let me know. | Ecnalzen
10.12.12 | Sure, where did you get it at? Is it only available through Itunes? | tempest--
10.12.12 | 3 and 5 are great. I'm doing a music course where a few friends and I had to record a song and we covered "Little Black Submarines" from 4. Haven't heard anything else from the band, but I was hooked by that one song. | Ecnalzen
10.12.12 | I was a little late to the aussie rock/progressive explosion that happened some years back. There are some good bands down there.
If you like one black keys song Lloyd, I think you would like most of their stuff. They have a very distinguished sound, but their stuff still manages to not all sound the same. Its impressive.

10.12.12 | For some more of that sound, check out Sydonia, Closure In Moscow, Breaking Orbit, The Butterfly Effect and Cog.
Cheers, will definitely check out The Black Keys then! | Dev518
10.12.12 | You might like Fightstar, Cog, The Butterfly Effect, Moving Mountains, Dredg, and/or Fair To Midland. They're all progressive/post-harcore/alt. rock bands.
If you're looking to get into pop punk there's a new wave of bands that consists of The Wonder Years, The Story So Far, Fireworks, Transit, and Title Fight. If you like those look into Crucial Dudes and Neck Deep.
I checked your ratings to see if I was giving you stuff that you already listened to and I saw that you gave a Deftones album a 2. You should really give them another listen. I didn't like them at first either, and now they are one of my favorites.
| Ecnalzen
10.12.12 | So far Dev, the one I gave a 2 is the only stuff by them i dont like. I listened to white pony last week on the youtubes and I really enjoyed it. I don't know what it is about wrists, but I could not get into it. Thats the only Cd I actually own by The Deftones which is why its the only thing ive rated by them.
Thanks for the recs Lloyd and Dev. The only one of those I have heard of is butterfly effect. | Strider
10.12.12 | Well if we're talking about ratings here you should gice Coheed and Cambria another chance. there's no way keeping secrets should be lower than Year of the Black Rainbow...
And try Oceansize if you haven't already | Ecnalzen
10.12.12 | Ha ha, saw that huh? I don't know, Keeping Secrets is my least favorite so far. YOTBR was the first album I bought by them. I thought it was really good. Ive listened to Secrets several times and I just don't like it as much as their others. |
