09.15.13 | For the record, I consider bands like Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, Disciple, and Staind to be examples of alt. metal. Breaking Benjamin, Fireflight, Skillet, and Seether would be examples of hard rock. I'm not a metalhead, so my definition of these genres may not be technically correct, but I abide by them, and don't plan on changing them. Thanks for all the feedback in advance! |

09.15.13 | None of these are anywhere close to my favorite bands, although I do enjoy red quite a bit (just not that album) and chevelle. My favorite bands include poets of the fall, emery, jars of clay, Bon Iver, Opeth, and Anberlin. What are some examples of alt. metal then (since, obviously my definition is so far off)? |

09.15.13 | What would you guys categorize each band as? (Honestly Wikipedia and this site are my main consultants for genres). Sputnik, however, doesn't have an alt. metal genre tag (or I haven't seen it yet). |

09.15.13 | The problem here is that these two terms are so loosely defined. They often overlap with each other and genres like nu-metal. |
JeremyJahns
09.15.13 | I put nu metal with alt metal. I understand the differences, but I just lump them all into one playlist, while hard rock is a separate one. I just find these bands above slightly heavier than my hard rock listed bands and lighter than my nu metal/alt metal bands. That's my dilemma. |

09.15.13 | I honestly didn't like that album. My least favorite of theirs. Not entirely sure why. Haven't listened to it in a while. Meh |

09.15.13 | Well, 2 was my first major disappointment. I was really confused listening to it back then. They were able to record decent modern mainstream rock albums but Release The Panic turned out to be a really weak effort. At least it was Michael Barnes’ best vocal performance. |

02.20.14 | Gosh Red's a tough one. I'm a huge Red fan, with the exception of RTP. I would say their first two records were alt/nu-metal, and their most recent two records were hard rock, including RTP. |
