10.01.13 | get rid of republicans

10.01.13 | @someguest it's scary for the people that work for the government and provide for there families based on the money they make. I happen to be directly effected in this situation. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | Or if moderates actually got elected. shit would actually get done in a reasonable manner. |

10.01.13 | I would advise your family member to become an 'essential' government employee by the time the next government shutdown rolls around.
:p |
Trebor.
10.01.13 | "ive never met a moderate liberal"
wtf a liberal politician in America is basically a conservative in Europe
This is all Republicans' fault by the way, why the fuck would Obama defund his own bill stop fucking whining about it and causing people to lose jobs over it |
skeames1214
10.01.13 | @joshuahuntkc if it's any consolation, last time there was a government shutdown they paid all the workers who were furloughed. |

10.01.13 | I'm pretty embarrassed for our government...
What will be saying in 30 years about this shit? |
someguest
10.01.13 | The House Republicans never learned the definition of compromise and negotiation, even after all those years in law school! |
Trebor.
10.01.13 | "What will be saying in 30 years about this shit?"
They'll be saying "Wow Obamacare was such a success, I can't believe those fucks shut down the government over it" |
someguest
10.01.13 | It won't be a success right away. There will be a lot of bugs to work out.
But in the long term, yes, it will be a great success. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | @skeames1214 I can only hope they do the same this time, otherwise my family is screwed. On the bright side I'll be spending more time with your beautiful people on sputnik. lol |

10.01.13 | @Trevor yeah, I feel like our current healthcare system is something we'll look back on with some shame. Capitalism has it's place, but it's not in healthcare. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | ive never met a moderate liberal
that's probably because a moderate can't really be anything but moderate. They aren't conservative or liberal, they are moderate. But if you were going to lean more towards the liberal side that's basically a libertarian. |
Trebor.
10.01.13 | Hey, at least Breaking Bad has a believable plot because of our shitty healthcare system |
someguest
10.01.13 | You can be a moderate with liberal leanings and a moderate with conservative leanings. These terms aren't pigeonholed. |
skeames1214
10.01.13 | @joshuahuntkc you can keep pumping out those reviews, man! Seriously though, I am sorry about what you're going through. |
Trebor.
10.01.13 | "But if you were going to lean more towards the liberal side that's basically a libertarian."
libertarians are always fiscally conservative and sometimes socially liberal, which would put them more on the conservative side. As Sonic usually says, a libertarian is just a republican who smokes weed |

10.01.13 | "Libertarians can be alright. I just think if you're going to take that tact then you better be super fucking involved in making your community a better place."
Lol. Libertarians are self-serving turds, that's why they don't give a fuck about what anyone else does. Their eye for eye mentality is idiotic. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | Libertarians want something that would be good for everybody, if it was realistic it would be. But uniting our country behind someone like that would never happen and it would essentially eliminate the party system if it was ever implemented. That basically goes for libertarians and moderates. |

10.01.13 | The government shutdowns and we all get healthcare. It looks like we should have shut this shit down a long time ago. |
skeames1214
10.01.13 | @someguest I think it's incredibly idealistic, but I do know a few libertarians who are genuinely good people whose political beliefs arose from the idea that people helping people directly is the best way to go about things.
|
skeames1214
10.01.13 | I tend to agree, just pointing out that not all libertarians are selfish assholes. Some are just naive. |
someguest
10.01.13 | Okay. It's just that the outspoken libertarians (read: rich) calling for people to help their friends, neighbors, etc. are really just talking down to their libertarian inferiors (read: poor), trying to keep them busy with 'community efforts' to stop them from rising to the top and taking their place higher up on the income food chain. |
skeames1214
10.01.13 | @someguest Can't say I disagree with any of that. I think libertarianism as a political force is ultimately harmful. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | @cinaedus it's only idealism because of the way our political system is set up. It's not retarted. it could be implemented in an effective way if someone seriously ran with it, set up clear political goals and actually got people to stand by him. the representation of what a libertarian is in mainstream politics is totally off base. They show you someone that has no chance and is just put in to represent a decent number of people in a totally non efficient cop out way. |
someguest
10.01.13 | "i.e if you dont think like them you're wrong LOL"
Isn't this why we have political parties, to form groups of the like minded? Of course people are going to disagree. The key is compromise. And now we've gone full circle within this list. |
skeames1214

Bologna. Anyone can compromise, but these weasels are too busy having a tantrum - the same one they've been throwing for years. It's time to fling the doors of the House wide open and throw these people out on their asses like a drunk at a bar. |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | Sure anyone can compromise but who is more likely to usher along a comprise than a moderate. a liberal and conservative are never going to be able to come to an agreement if they have strong ideals on anything. |

skeames1214
10.01.13 | @FourthReich if you agree, then try to practice it. Intellectual discourse is hard to come by, and it pretty much dies when emotions get involved and people get angry. If someone says something you don't agree with, even if it offends you on some level, make a rational, level-headed response. You have to be willing to understand other people for the system to work. Saying things like "I've never met a moderate liberal" does nothing to further the conversation. Even if you feel like you've been forced into a confrontational mindset, you still need to make an effort to communicate. |

10.01.13 | "but some are truly fighting against the fact that obamacare is an extremely flawed system and may in fact be unconstitutional."
It was ruled constitutional by the supreme court, and Obama would never sign a bill defunding his own bill, so the 50 or so times they've tried is a complete waste of tax payer money and just goes to show how little house republicans care about the American people. And known they're going to let thousands go jobless out of their ass level stubbornness
|
Trebor.
10.01.13 | If they really thought Obamacare is so flawed and would be a huge failure, they'd happily let it go through and watch it fail and then rally for 2014/2016 and shit |
someguest
10.01.13 | "is an extremely flawed system..."
It is a work in progress.
"...and may in fact be unconstitutional."
It's basically a tax. Do you think taxes are unconstitutional? |
joshuahuntkc
10.01.13 | Hey guys, I'm not picking sides, but have any of you read the healthcare proposel. No. You haven't. Your not qualified to judge it. no one in congress really is either. that's an even bigger problem. |
someguest
10.01.13 | Yeah, I don't buy that. |
skeames1214
10.01.13 | @FourthReich I have had hundreds of discussions about politics with a variety of people, and only a few times has it gotten so heated the conversation broke down. And I'm a socialist who lives in Missouri. I think you'll find if you make a sincere effort to listen to what people have to say, they'll do the same for you. If you want your views to be implemented in public policy, you absolutely have to let people examine them, and that's the problem the house republicans are having right now. They'll pick at other peoples worldviews until the end of time, but what do they have to offer? Backwards social policies (I think the majority of Americans can agree there) and nothing in the way of constructive government. If you want to see a certain kind of change, you have to be a part of the solution. |

10.01.13 | It sounds like you should be blaming your healthcare provider and not the government. Your provider doesn't really care about you, regardless of how great you think your plan is right now. |
someguest
10.01.13 | You don't get penalized for dropping before March. You will not pay $10k to join a new plan.
If you're happy with your current plan, keep it. But don't blame Obamacare on your rising premiums. If you've taken a look at the costs of the program, you'll see that it varies from state to state, which means the federal government (the one that created Obamacare) really isn't determining the costs of it. |

what part of
- being introduced to congress
- tons of debate
- being passed in congress
- being signed by the president
- and being reviewed by supreme court and ruled as "constitutional"
that is literally by-the-books constitutional. that's how laws get passed, I do not understand why this "might be/is unconstitutional" business is still going on after all of that. |

It's been over two weeks and the sky hasn't fallen yet, in fact, most people hardly noticed a thing who didn't turn on the hysteria on CNN, MSNBC etc. Basically Obama did this to distract from all the negative things happening to his administration lately. The actual threat is if Obama Care passes and you give the executive branch that kind of power (to exempt certain businesses from the insurance requirement, select which insurance companies get included in the government plan etc.)
... this country is a mass clueless fools, there is almost no rational thinking happening anywhere in large groups
