Album Digging - April (1st Half)
I can't believe I've managed to do this for a whole year, you'd have rthought I would've got rbored of it by now. I've abbreviated the list so lists rwont get duplicated with last years. (like ryou guys'll even care tho ;_;)r+ I'll start doing little descriptions about each item now, yaaaaay |
11 | | Plini Sweet Nothings
I've started listening to this during my wake-up routine, it's nice. Best songs are
Away and Tarred and Feathered. |
10 | | Everything Everything Man Alive
I listen to my mp3 when I go running, and this album was great to listen to. Usually
I listen to Shining/BTBAM/Coheed/Rammstein, but I thing their heavy beats screw
my pace up. Best songs are MY KZ, UR BF and Tin (The Manhole) |
9 | | Cult of Luna Salvation
Listened to all of Salvation a couple of times at the beginning of the month, then
was sad because I missed them at Damnation Festival cos my mate wasn't
hardcore enough and had to eat because apparently we need food to survive or
something (to be fair, it was his first ever gig and I threw him in the deep end at a
metal festival). Best songs are Waiting For You and Crossing Over. |
8 | | Transatlantic The Whirlwind
Had an essay due in earlier in the month, so I did it last minute like any normal
person would. Listened to The Whirlwind in its entirety, twice. Good times, good
times. Best parts are On The Prowl and Lay Down Your Life |
7 | | King Crimson The Power To Believe
Listened to this whilst making my previous list, yknow the one where everyone
raged with the force of a thousand suns? Topjej. Best songs are Eyes Wide Open
and Dangerous Curves |
6 | | Crippled Black Phoenix (Mankind) The Crafty Ape
I've been listening to WLG a lot, but I keep catching myself thinking 'man, I sure do
love Mankind' - loved the album ever since I fell in love with the album cover. Best
songs are Laying Traps and Faced with Complete Failure Utter Defiance is the Only
Response. |
5 | | Jon Hopkins Insides
I don't really listen to much electronic/dubsteppy stuff, but after watching
Monsters I wanted to get into Jon Hopkins more. I love the ambient/downtempo
sort of thing he does, it's really laid back - I tried Immunity, but I prefer Insides. I
only listen to the full album stream on YouTube, so IDK about songs. |
4 | | iLiKETRAiNS He Who Saw The Deep
I've been listening to ILT more often since they announced a UK tour - my hype
knows no bounds. Best songs are Broken Bones and A Divorce Before Marriage |
3 | | Jon Hopkins Monsters (Soundtrack)
Watched the film Monsters the other day, and it's easily one of my favourites. The
soundtrack is quite subtle, but the main motif throughout is just beautiful. What
was weird though is that by the end of the film, it was raining in my room - weird,
right? It was definitely rain and I was definitely not crying at the ending. |
2 | | Crippled Black Phoenix White Light Generator
Love the band, bought the album. Great stuff from CBP as ever, but not as good as
Vigilante and Mankind, mind you. The vocalist isn't spectacular, and the lyrics are a
little too vulgar? Is that the word? It's a little too in-your-face and not as poetic as
some of the lyrics in their previous albums - but it has some really great moments. Best
songs are We Remember You (that ending hnnnng) and A Brighter Tomorrow. |
1 | | Steve Reich Phases - A Nonesuch Retrospective
A 7+ hour (5CD) compilation of Steve Reich's best works. Bought earlier in the
month from HMV for ?20 and well worth it - it's great background music to chill
out/study to. Favourite songs: Music for 18 Musicians; Music for Mallet
Instruments, Vocals and Organ; Cello Counterpoint. |
