Recent Listens
Mostly new music I've heard. :] |
1 | | Crowbar Symmetry in Black
Album brings the riffz, however I feel like I've heard a lot of this before by different
artists. Definitely sludgy. |
2 | | Glamour of the Kill Savages
Ranges from pretty good shredfest to godawful typical post-hardcore with
misogynistic and audience-baiting lyrics. |
3 | | Sylar To Whom It May Concern
Shit music, shit production, lol Caleb Shomo (ok, so Beartooth actually isn't that bad) |
4 | | Mushroomhead The Righteous & The Butterfly
Is OK, production is weak, and the band seems to have lost a lot of energy from
the glory days of XX. |
5 | | The Orwells Disgraceland
Band has talent, it's just that they use it to further every "teenage music" trope on
the planet (garage rock, punk, surf music, etc. etc.) |
6 | | The Last Vegas Sweet Salvation
Album brings the rawk - which is to say, standard Guns n' Roses-aping radio rock. |
7 | | La Sera Hour of the Dawn
Moar generic indie punk. |
8 | | Prong Ruining Lives
Has a few good thrashy jams, although I expected better from these guys. |
9 | | Parquet Courts Sunbathing Animal
Has germs of some great ideas, and the production is equally great, it just seems
the band drones on for too long on one idea. |
10 | | The Pains of Being Pure at Heart Days of Abandon
Super sexy album art, unfortunately, that's about all I can say for this |
11 | | Timo Tolkki's Avalon Angels of the Apocalypse
Cheesy power metal is cheesy. Synth work is great though, I will give it that. |
12 | | Metsatoll Karjajuht
Nicely executed folk metal from Estonia, the production doesn't do it favors though |
13 | | Syd Arthur Sound Mirror
Great throwback to the Canterbury scene of yore. If you're looking for an
instrumental that will blow you away, look up "Singularity". |
14 | | Trap Them Blissfucker
Album brings the riffz more than 1, very Converge-ish, no wonder Kurt Ballou
produced this |
15 | | Royal Blood Out of the Black
Radio rock executed perfectly. |
16 | | White Sea In Cold Blood
From Morgan Kibby, M83 collaborator, comes a super-80's sounding album with
stunning vocals (check "Future Husbands Past Lives" if you don't believe me) |
17 | | Eyehategod Eyehategod
First I've heard this band, damn it if this doesn't turn out to be on my end-of-year
list. Grooves, and grooves HARD |
18 | | Rage Against the Machine Evil Empire
I didn't love this quite as much as the self-titled (hard to beat tho), but this still
remains a shining example of RATM's songcraft. |
19 | | Avenged Sevenfold Nightmare
Might be my favorite A7X record next to Waking the Fallen. |
20 | | American Authors Oh, What a Life
I've only heard "Best Day of My Life", do I really need to listen to the rest of this to
know this is terrible? Didn't think so. |
