07.26.14 | "I should really watch the last movie."
Yeah, but you should watch the special extended edition with all the deleted scenes, it's so much deeper, complete and a much better rendition of Tolkien's works. |
Kalopsia
07.26.14 | Aragorn is boring as hell.
Viggo is the shit, but come on man.. more like... Ara-bor(ing)

Gameofmetal
07.26.14 | Am I the only one that thinks the movies are better than the books? And that's literally the only time I've said that about film adaptations of books. |
Onirium
07.26.14 | Imo the books are miles better. The movies are awesome and possibly the best film adaptation of a book
series ever, and Peter Jackson did it the best way possible. But, imo the books are still better,
because they go so much deeper in the world Tolkien has created, and it has a dimension that couldn't
be translated to the screen. Anyways, the movies are excellent, and I respect all the efforts they did
to really bring life to Tolkien's work |
elcrawfodor
07.26.14 | Eh, the movies focus a bit too much on the battle scenes that were only given 15 or so pages in the books (Return of the King is really guilty of this). I mean, they're some of the best battle scenes I've ever seen in a movie, but still. Plus the books fleshed out the universe a bit more which was cool.
Sam is my favorite character, but personality wise I'm closest to Merry. |
Gameofmetal
07.26.14 | It might just be because LOTR was written many years ago and it feels old fashioned, especially since I'm much more of an ASOIAF/Game of Thrones fan. |
elcrawfodor
07.26.14 | Tolkien can go a bit overboard with scenery descriptions but hey it's part of the charm. I just started reading Game of Thrones, its characters are immensely more realistic than LotR's. |
Onirium
07.26.14 | Yeah, what's awesome in Tolkien's works is the whole description of the world. He once said he considered LOTR only a mere part of his work and the story of Middle-Earth. Have you guys read The Silmarillion? |
elcrawfodor
07.26.14 | No I've been meaning to but it sounds like it'll take forever to get through. Is it worth the time? |
Gameofmetal
07.26.14 | I've had it a long time but it seems so dense. GoT is my shit. Favorite book series of all time. |
YoYoMancuso
07.26.14 | Sam because I can pronounce his name |
Onirium
07.26.14 | @elcrafodor If you,re a big fan of the LOTR books, I'd say it's definitely worth the time. It is very
rich and deep, and the whole thing is extremely interesting. I'm currently reading it, and I'd say
some passages are a bit long, but overall it's a very rewarding reading. |
ScuroFantasma
07.27.14 | "Yeah, but you should watch the special extended edition with all the deleted scenes, it's so much deeper, complete and a much better rendition of Tolkien's works."
okay, I'll see if I can find it. I've seen the first two heaps of times but I never get to the third for some reason. |

07.27.14 | 9 is 1.
Also..... Samwise. |
elcrawfodor
07.27.14 | @Music4Life26 Absolutely worth reading! A bit time consuming but they're definitely superior to the films (at least the
Theatrical Releases, I have yet to see the Extended Editions). The Hobbit is worth reading as well, it adds to the story but
isn't required assuming you know the history of Bilbo and Gollum. Some characters from The Hobbit get referenced in
LotR as well, particularly in the Mines of Moria. |
Muisc4Life26
07.27.14 | @elcrawfodor- You're right on that, way more information. I have Return of The King. That's about it though. |
