Some Rusty Acoustic Albums With Sad Voices and Yes
My favourite fifteen acoustic albums, but, some of them aren't fully acoustic. It was hard to create this list because there are many good acoustic albums. Rec me some dark music!
And yes, here they are: |
15 | | Archive Unplugged
Favourite is "Sleep" |
14 | | Antimatter Live @ An Club
Favourite is "Black Sun (Dead Can Dance Cover)" |
13 | | King Dude Burning Daylight
Favourite is "Jesus in the Courtyard" |
12 | | Johnny Cash American IV: The Man Comes Around
Favourite is "Hurt (NIN Cover)" |
11 | | Empyrium Weiland
Even though, their latest album is awful, I'll always listen to this record, "Weiland". It makes me feel like I walk alone in a bright forest when the album plays. Through the last songs, it starts to get dark and I feel lost. Amazing work!
Favourite is "Waldpoesie" |
10 | | Angel Olsen Strange Cacti
I couldn't dig her full-length albums because I am still in love with this tiny EP.
Favourite is "Drunk And With Dreams" |
9 | | Sibylle Baier Colour Green
She is the another muse... It's sad that they released the album 33 years after the recording.
Favourite is "The End" |
8 | | Lykke Li I Never Learn
Another breaking-up, another painful lyrics and this pain looks great with Lykke Li. I wish she would keep releasing albums like "I Never Learn".
Favourite is "I Never Learn" |
7 | | Mazzy Star So Tonight That I Might See
This album is a real classic. I can't find the true words to describe it. Wish I could compose this album...Hope Sandoval is everyone's dope!
Favourite is "Into Dust" |
6 | | Damien Rice O
I feel so sorry when I listen to this album, his heartache is deep too. Lyrics are wild and clear, high vocal parts make you tear apart. Great artist!
Favourite is "I Remember" |
5 | | Leonard Cohen Songs of Love and Hate
Finally, a male singer! A big man, a great poet and voice... I'm not a fan of his latest works but the early acoustic era is totally mind-blowing. So personal and "real" songs create this album.
Favourite is "Famous Blue Raincoat" |
4 | | Emma Ruth Rundle Some Heavy Ocean
"Every time I saw you
Used my left hand
To guide me to some heavy ocean
I used my left hand"
As I was first listening to this album, I felt in love with her deep voice and the lyrics... Every song in this album has different stories and all songs are close to perfect. It inspires me a lot.
Favourite is "Arms I Know So Well". |
3 | | Chelsea Wolfe Unknown Rooms: A Collection of Acoustic Songs
Chelsea Wolfe is the queen of dark music. Her voice was created to spread the pain to this world. I love her all works and waiting for the new album "Abyss"! "Unknown Rooms" is a little album which includes her acoustic songs. Even, 32-second song "I Died With You" could make you feel depressed.
Favourite is "Spinning Centers" |
2 | | Marissa Nadler The Saga of Mayflower May
She has a deep heartache, I guess. Because, when I listen to this album, it hurts me a lot. I can totally understand what she felt as she were writing these songs. "Under an Old Umbrella" is a perfect song to summarize a separation and my favourite one. What a touching voice...
Favourite is (of course) "Under An Old Umbrella" |
1 | | Anneke van Giersbergen & Danny Cavanagh In Parallel
This album is a very special live album in my opinion. It has both Anathema and Anneke van Giersbergen songs, plus Massive Attack, Fleetwood Mac and Damien Rice covers with Anneke's impressive singing. I remember I had attended their concert in Turkey and it was so emotional to be there.
Favourite is "A Natural Disaster (Anathema Cover)" |
