Minushuman24
10.28.15 | didn't put mini-bosses like Havel, Hydra, or Hellkite on here. |
zakalwe
10.28.15 | Best Game Ever.
1.Ornstein and Smough
2.Capra Demon
3.Four Kings
|
InFiction
10.28.15 | Congrats man, such a good game!
What I love about it is that I find everyone personally struggles more with different bosses, so everyone's got a different experience. For me, Ornstein and Smough were tough, but I beat them on my fifth or sixth try, Capra Demon was surprisingly easy but I got completely dominated by both Sif as well as the Gaping Dragon.
Now you can look forward to the onslaught that is Dark Souls 2. |
ConcubinaryCode
10.28.15 | I'm on the part where I can fight great wolf sif but he's so hard I don't know if I want to bother with the game anymore. |
Mort.
10.29.15 | sif is a piece of piss just get under him and hit his legs a shit ton
Four Kings were easily the boss i found the hardest, multiplying bastard |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Dark Souls II isn't a patch on this masterpiece. The Bloodborne Cursed Chalice Dungeon bosses, Headless Bloodletting Beast, Amygdala, even the Watchdog of the old Lords don't touch these fuckers. |
CapnJizz
10.29.15 | O&S and four kings I still struggle with. Probably played through this game three times now, it's fantastic. Funny that you put sif so high on your list cause on my first playthrough I got him first try and thought he was one of the easiest by far. |
MotoOnSputnik
10.29.15 | Dark Souls is the greatest game of all time, congrats :D now finish Demon's Souls, DKS 2, and Bloodborne before DKS 3 comes out |
StarlessCore
10.29.15 | died to sif like once or twice hes easy.
skip dks2 go back to demons souls |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | dks2 rules dont skip it
O&S are classic
-ly awful to fight |
Space Jester
10.29.15 | Orstein and Smough were the hardest for me but Artorias from the DLC was a very close second and an awesome fight. Capra Demon was hard too. Four Kings I actually beat on my first try. I have DS2 and I really want to play it but I have to know I'll be able to play it consistently and commit to it. |
Mort.
10.29.15 | you beat four kings on your first try?
i think it took me upwards of 10 tires to get them
only boss on DS2 that aggs me is Vendrick, fucking prick with his big sword fuck off |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | four kings drove me up a wall until i realized i should just get my highest damage weapon, two hand it, wear havels armor and wail on each one in the hopes of killing it before another shows. second time through the game it was the easiest thing ever |
someguest
10.29.15 | How many dark souls have you beat off? |
brainmelter
10.29.15 | yeah this game fkn rules
you're not going to believe this but I beat Sif on my first try. only boss I beat on 1st try
Ornstein and Smough were the hardest for me on my first play through but the 4kings are absolute monsters on new game+ |
Space Jester
10.29.15 | I was wearing Havel's armor when I fought the four kings so I could track their guys pretty well. If you're fast enough you can beat them each before the next one shows up.
So pretty much what Gameofmetal said haha. Just make sure you have a kit of health too. |
tragic.details
10.29.15 | Congrats, man! I know how good it feels. I bought the game on the day of release, got up to the area before Anor Lando and it broke me. Came back a year later and tore through it in one weekend. Only bosses I didn't beat on first try were O&S and Bed of Chaso. |
Space Jester
10.29.15 | Anyone been to Ash Lake? Easily my favorite location in the game. |
tragic.details
10.29.15 | Man, the journey to Ash Lake is one of the most frustrating experiences of the game for me. Fucking dumb ass curse frogs. Totally worth it, though. |
Space Jester
10.29.15 | Just getting there and seeing it for the first time is amazing. |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Ash Lake is beautiful, I made it there before Gwyn
and yeah Havels armor is great for Nito and Four kings |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Thanks guys, the game is absolutely beautiful. O&S i beat on my 6th try and it was one of the most fun experiences I've had playing a game. I will get to DS2, but I had bloodborne so I had to go with the one miyazaki was attached to
It's Kicking my ass, the fast combat |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Brainmelter: I believe it, all my friends beat him on their first try, it was irritating. Took me probably like 40 tries, second highest deaths I think was Belfry Gargoyles with like 16 deaths |
Space Jester
10.29.15 | Everything about Ash Lake is awesome. Heck, even the TWO HYDRAS THAT CAN FUCKING FLY |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | yeah, tried skipping them then saw that shit, the panic set in with being cursed and all |
kris.
10.29.15 | ive had the game for like a year and a hafl and im still stuck on the 4 kings, this game is hard |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | it most definitely is. Apparently the Four Kings gt brutally hard on NG+
I'd get Havel's set from the basement in Anor Londo behind an illusionary wall and max out a gargoyle's halberd if ya got it |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | ^ Its just an endurance test and a bit of luck, tried so many times with just Silver Knight armor, then switched to massive poise armor and got them on my second try |
Gyromania
10.29.15 | you missed one of the hardest bosses in the game - the stray demon. fuck that thing. in all honesty, i thought the gaping dragon and the capra demon (two bosses people regularly complain about) were easy as cake.
ornstein and smough can fuck themselves. that boss fight is so unfair. bed of chaos is also really dumb. four kings are super easy with the lightning spear |
Gyromania
10.29.15 | i wasted the capra demon my first time through. didn't even get hit by the guy. same with my second playthrough. the stray demon is bullshit because his aoe attacks are stupid and cover a ridiculous amount of space. everyone told me to run behind him but that did shit all when he'd strike the wall. i'd still keep getting wasted. |
Gyromania
10.29.15 | first playthrough i mostly used sword and shield with some pyromancy. i've since enjoyed using sorcery - especially in dark souls 2. the options for sorceries, hexes, pyromancy, and miracles were so good |
tacos n stuff
10.29.15 | Glad you dug the game! Its probably my favorite from last gen. If you plan on playing through it again, go with a dex build. easy mode activated. Large monster bosses become a cinch with bow and arrows. |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I never beat the stray demon, I just kinda skipped him.
I could not for the life of me beat sif for a long time, I'd do really well then just fuck up on the last half of the fight
Gaping dragon is really easy, it's just time consuming, beat him on my second try
Capra demon is also easy once you get past the very first couple of seconds |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | My friend had me go Strength, and I regretted it since It doesn't really fit my play style, second file is pure dex, its beautiful |
tacos n stuff
10.29.15 | Dex makes things so much easier
Murakumo and Great Scythe are obnoxiously insane |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Been wanting to make a build around the Great Scythe |
tacos n stuff
10.29.15 | Honestly, best way to go with it is get it to +15 ( or +5 chaos with a lot of humanities). Moonlight Greatsword for magic builds also wrecks face |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | yeah, If I were to ever go magic build, that was my number one must get weapon |
tacos n stuff
10.29.15 | Its a pain in the ass to get though...
you gotta cut off Seathe's tail. Not really hard, but time consuming and annoying. How you enjoying Bloodborne? |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | oh wait, I was thinking of the spear, nevermind that sword is ridiculous to get, but pretty worth it.
um, well I like it, its beautiful, but mannn It's a mistake to go from Dark Souls to Bloodbourne an hour after I beat it. Exact opposite gameplay, wayyy fast. I ended up almost killing papa G on my first try, but im stillll trying to get past that second form..... keep hitting L1 to block |
tacos n stuff
10.29.15 | I can't say I had that problem as I played BB after a long period of non gaming, so I kinda had a clean start. Was still pretty tough though. Just a heads up: I don't know if From fixed it yet but one of the bosses (martyr logarius) glitched for me and became super easy. I fought the non glitched version in another play through though and hes hard AF. Papa G is just the beginning dude |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I hear that he's brutal. yeah, I know, Papa G is easily in my to 5 favorite boss fights from the series, but that wolf form I keep fucking up with. Tons of close calls with him. Hoping he's just my Sif |
brainmelter
10.29.15 | Ash Lake is my favorite place in the whole game and I found it by complete accident my first play through. I found it when I was farming slugs for titinite lel
thief is my fave class by far, I never really touched my intelligence or faith tbh |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I'm not a big spellcaster fan so I haven't either.
Ash lake is the best place for sure, its even cooler when you find it by accident I bet |
DungeonBoy
10.29.15 | After playing Demon's Souls I refused to play any more of these games. I beat Demon's Souls while I was recovering from a fence impalement, and completely jacked up out of my mind on percocet. I almost threw my controller at my roommate when he came into my room to ask me if I needed anything. These games are pure evil. |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | oh yeah it's totally based on your playstyle, i had totally different difficulties on a boss to boss basis comparing my sword and shield/magic playthrough and my full ham two hander playthrough |
Mort.
10.29.15 | black knight halberd playthrough 4lyfe |
BlueandOrange
10.29.15 | Sif was a bastard, I regretted choosing pyromancer when fighting him. |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Sif pfft |
dbizzles
10.29.15 | 'I beat Dark Souls'
MINUSHUMAN24 TOLD A VERY FUNNY JOKE TODAY!
Just kidding, congratulations. I had no patience for this game. |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | yeah, Sif was the only time I was really "stuck" on the game |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | On my first play through the game was an absolute joke, I think I fucked it off before I even reached Sif. After a few months I came back to it afresh and it opened up massively. I've ploughed more hours into it then any other game and I've been fiddlin' with me joystick since the days of the ZX Speccy. I absolutely love it. I would subscribe to PS Now in an instant if it became available. Patience brings rewards....wait and see. |
dbizzles
10.29.15 | Maybe I should try it again. It was immediately so hard. I spent an afternoon playing it and about broke my controller in anger. |
Mort.
10.29.15 | its not immediately hard, you just need to treat it like an actual game that will challenge you and make you think, and not like most other games that basically give little challenge |
Mort.
10.29.15 | "makes absolutely no sense in the context of a game that is based entirely in trial and error."
its not trial and error for the most part tho |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | That first segment in undead burg can be rough, but once you beat it, you can breeze through it in less than half an hour
Just take it slow and remember to lure one on one |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | If you go into it blind without any guide, knowledge of lore, experience of the Souls games, YouTube vids and so on the game is a harder than climbing Everest with a hand tied behind your back.
Anyone who says otherwise is lying. |
Mort.
10.29.15 | fuck off zak just because you found the game really hard doesnt mean it is for everyone
yeah im not saying it was a walk in the fucking park but the game doesnt just throw you in the deep end and fuck you relentlessly like people make out |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I'd say this game is based on trial and error, In order to learn about how the game works and how enemies work you're gonna die, a lot |
Mort.
10.29.15 | "The game is entirely trial and error. It's about trying things, blind, then realising you fucked up"
except for like a large percentage of the game where you use your knowledge of how games tend to work and what youve already played to predict what will happen and how enemies attack yeah sure
entirely trial and error is a massive exaggeration |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Yes it does. Think back to your first time playing it Mort dude. How long did it take to do Anor Londo? Figure out what the bloody hell was going on? The benefits of humanity? Getting a decent weapon? It was a fucker of the highest order. |
Mort.
10.29.15 | Ov theres no need to be shitty about this im not acting like im all that
|
Mort.
10.29.15 | getting a decent weapon was easy right out the bat i used the battle axe you find within the first hour or 2 for most of the game |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | The voice commands video was insane
Like I said, the undead burg part, I kept dying over and over and over again and was getting frustrated learning the tricks getting closer and closer with each attempt. then replaying it a while later on a different file I got through that segment and the second boss in a few minutes |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | id agree that it's mostly trial and error
anyone else try to go to the stupid ass cemetary instead of the burg? ive heard a few people say they've done that, kinda thought it was just me before lmao |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I went there for a little while thinking I could do it, then went to New Londo |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | when I got to him, I tried fighting Hellkite a few times. If he was an actual boss he'd be high up, fuck that guy |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | thankfully i had the internet to set me straight but i gave up on it for about a day first lol |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | You have to explore these things don't you. I didn't have 'rage quit' trouble through the burg but fuck me it was hard. The Chapel and what have you.
Trial and Error Souls. Nice! |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I tried to go guide-less, but I wanted the loot for the lore, so I looked that stuff up.
also could not do Four Kings without finding out I needed to tank, I had the opposite mentality of that |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Point is, the game is fantastic |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Best game ever. |
Gameofmetal
10.29.15 | im getting really sad thinking about how ill never be able to experience the wonder of that first playthrough again
shit |
LepreCon
10.29.15 | Finally platinumed Bloodborne so I have all the Souls series plats to date, awaiting DSIII soon. Not saying I'm all that great a gamer, I'm not and the games were bloody hard but perseverance is key! |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | I just need the all weapons one on Bloodborne. Christ knows what I'm missing |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Thats really impressive actually, LepreCon
it is a depressing feeling, gameofmetal
|
zakalwe
10.29.15 | My first play through of Dark Souls was a bit shit. I had missed loads, didn't have a clue what was going on and was left completely flummoxed by the ending. After starting NG+ and trouncing the asylum demon in a few swipes and ringing the first bell in what seemed like minutes the rest opened up and I savoured every minute. After about the 4th play through I spoke to the other snake fella and my mind was blown. |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I can't wait for my second playthrough. After beating gwyn i just did a quick little run to Solaire and then switched over to Bloodborne |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Spoiler alert Minus dude. Speak to the other snake fella. |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | Ah yeah, Kath, I'm gonna do his side next
I ended up watching a ton of lore videos after my playthrough |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | Good ol epicnamebro |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | He's the best |
WatchItExplode
10.29.15 | I hate Four Kings and they just get worse each NG+
1st playthrough O&S solo is usually hardest for me |
zakalwe
10.29.15 | That's a point. My first play through was done without any assistance because my internet was knackered. O&S was ridiculous it must have taken 30 odd goes at least to off 'em.
Definitely the hardest. What's also classic is even after 150+ hrs I still shit meself with the wheel skeletons. Timeless. |
brainmelter
10.29.15 | might I add on my first play through, I never summoned anyone to help with boss fights. didnt kno I could. ng+ I still dont really, but I Summon the guy before the iron golem fight just to distract him from picking me up and throwing me off the fucking edge |
brainmelter
10.29.15 | wheel skeletons are fucking dicks |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | I summoned Solaire for the Gargoyles, and then after that i kinda just wanted to know I could do it on my own. O&S I didn't have much trouble with really, my third go I almost killed super smough, then I got greedy. Took my 6th try to off them
The Tingles were strong |
Minushuman24
10.29.15 | man, FUCK the wheel skeletons, especially in the painting
|
kris.
10.29.15 | stray demon was easy af just go in with no armor and always stay behind it. its moveset is super easy to remember and its aoe attack is easy to block. im gonna try that high poise thing for the kings tonight. im running with a str build and ive been using the black knight greatsword and carvin up everything but hit a roadblock with the kings |
Zig
08.15.18 | Can't beat the second boss. |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | The Taurus Demon? I had trouble my first way through with him. I just climbed the ladder and did falling damage on him and then got lucky. |
J() Alexander
08.15.18 | Dark Souls can actually become quite easy (it's not very hard in general tbh). Except for the Four Kings. My INT isn't enough to defeat those bastards easily. |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | man fuck the Four Kings, and fuck that there's more than four of them. I was forced into just attempting to tank through them wearing Havel's armor |
Tyler.
08.15.18 | afafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafafaf! |
J() Alexander
08.15.18 | Everytime I fight them I just use my Battle Axe, Sunlight Blade and Power Within. Even with all of that my character can barely make it because I don't level up VIT. |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | That's a solid build for it. I got Zwei and Havel's armor set and hope that it works out. Not one of my favorite fights in the Souls games. |
Devastator
08.15.18 | You gotta fight Artorias, one of the DLC bosses. He's nuts. |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | I have yet to play any Dark souls, Bloodborne, or DS3 DLC. I've been sleeping on them for far too long. |
TheClansman95
08.15.18 | love this list. DS rules |
Avagantamos
08.15.18 | I got to the 4 kings like a year and a half ago and haven't really played since...
also I was a bitch and threw firebombs at capra demon from the other side of the fog gate because I kept dying instantly after walking through |
Veldin
08.15.18 | I beat the original , but I've been playing the remaster on PS4. Just recently beat Ornstein and Smough and when I got to Gwyndolin, I tried to take out my binoculars to take a screenshot of that "great chest ahead", but I had my HUD turned off, and instead of pulling out binoculars I threw a knife at her, instantly breaking the illusion before even talking to her lol |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | Hahaha, that's pretty great. I need to get that remaster once I have time and more importantly, money.
Capra is nutso, it's okay |
Minushuman24
08.15.18 | Also yeah, Dark Souls rules, top 5 games ever |
J() Alexander
08.15.18 | Man, I still haven't played Artorias of the Abyss (and I've finished the game like 10 times since I got it about a year ago) because I bought it like a month ago and I'm still playing some games before that, but something tells me that the bosses are gonna be quite harsh considering my character right now is something like 50-60 INT, 50-55 DEX, 50-55 STR, 30-35 FTH, 19 ATN and like 60 END and no VIT (most of the game is pretty easy like this).
And yeah, DS is fantastic, one of my two favorite games. |
Source
08.15.18 | I used the boss soul glitch when I played this game. No regrets |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I'd have done that but honestly I would regret it. I prefer to spend some time farming with some good music in the background. |
Source
08.16.18 | I figured I could spend 759 hours watching NPCs jump off a cliff, or I could spend half an hour using a glitch |
Source
08.16.18 | And to be fair I did use the cliff farming method for my first couple weeks that I spent playing the game, but I reached my threshold of how much time I wanted to spend doing that lol |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | What cliff farming method? I'm not aware of that one, I usually go for the forest hunters early and when I reach The Duke's Archives I farm the pisacas. |
Source
08.16.18 | the forest hunters run off a cliff to their deaths if you stand in the right place. It's pretty funny...for like 5 minutes |
Source
08.16.18 | https://youtu.be/tSFsNM6rdsU |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | Oh, I didn't know about that... Eh, I guess it gets boring if you're just watching them fall. I fight them normally when I farm, with the Symbol of Avarice and the Silver Serpent ring to get even more souls. I stopped farming after NG+4 though. |
Source
08.16.18 | Wow props. I never even played ng+ lol. When I finished the game I was like that's enough for me haha |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I've finished it 11 times (I remember well now) with 3 different characters in like a year, the first month I played I finished it like 4 times if I remember well. It's a pretty nice game. |
Source
08.16.18 | The one thing I didn't like about it is you basically have to look stuff up. Or at least I did. I like games that are challenging but aren't so absurd that you have to consult wiki's. Like the metal gear solid games. There were things in dark souls that I never would have figured out by myself. |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I honestly never used a guide for the game on my first playthrough, but I already had some prior knowledge about Gwyn (the parry thing) and Ceaseless Discharge (the easy way to kill him), other than that, nothing relevant, I never felt that I didn't know what I was doing. I did use them in the second one though, to see what I missed (and of course, I missed Ash Lake and The Great Hollow). I haven't played a MGS yet so I don't know about that, but the only game where I felt lost (and I've just finished it yesterday, actually) is the first Resident Evil, and even then I didn't use a guide. |
Source
08.16.18 | I never looked anything up for the bosses, but like how to even access the dlc? How humanity even works or what it's even for? Maybe I'm stupid but I never would have figured that stuff out |
Source
08.16.18 | And you should def play the mgs series btw |
SteakByrnes
08.16.18 | Artorias is my favorite boss in the entire series, dude's a fucking monster |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | Funny, I usually only use guides for bosses. I just used humanity to see what happened and about the DLC access, well, yeah, that one is kind of too much. I haven't played it yet, but I'm aware of how it works. Oh, and I just remembered about finding Gwyndolin, I'm not sure if I knew about that one before the first time or if I found it in my second playthrough, but that one is quite hard to find as well. Thankfully that stuff is optional. |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I'll play MGS at some point. I already know a lot about them to be honest and I'm not sure if I'll like them, except for the third one, that one looks great, I think I'll like it (I already like one thing about that one). |
Source
08.16.18 | Yeah some of the optional bosses I never would have known existed if it wasn't for wikis. And I wouldn't have thought to provoke priscilla |
Source
08.16.18 | Do it man. I consider myself a casual gamer and even I never had to look anything up in any of those games. They're great |
Source
08.16.18 | 1 and 4 are my favs. 3 is one of my least favs tbh |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I knew Priscilla was a boss because, well, she looks like one. I've only killed her once though, I didn't really want to, but I go full trophy hunter with games I really like.
The fourth MGS also looks cool, but I don't know, MGR it's more similar to the kind of game I usually enjoy. |
Source
08.16.18 | Personally I like solid snake's story more than big boss' which is why i like 1 and 4 the most, but most people do like 3 the most. And yeah metal gear rising is awesome, much different from the mgs games obviously but still awesome. |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | Eh, even after watching Matthewmatosis' videos about the series I'm not very interested in the story. The one thing I like and find interesting in MGS 3 was The End, such a great idea for a boss. |
Minushuman24
08.16.18 | I feel as though I am in the minority, but I fucking looooved MGS2 |
Minushuman24
08.16.18 | and Resi 1 is so good. I just finished Resident Evil 4 for the first time after having it since I was in middle school, and it holds up so incredibly well |
Source
08.16.18 | Bruh mgs2 is great, and I think raiden is a cool character. I would rather play as solid snake for sure but raiden is awesome |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | Well, I haven't played it, but Raiden is cooler than Snake. |
Source
08.16.18 | Knowing the story of mgs before playing would kind of ruin everything tbh. I knew nothing about the story beforehand and it was cool to watch it unfold |
J() Alexander
08.16.18 | I have no problem with spoilers. If I'll actually like a story I will like it even if I know parts of it, and I'll like it when I experience it for the second time. Hell, I usually spoil myself stuff on purpose. |
Minushuman24
08.16.18 | I try to avoid the spoilers hard, but I played MGS2 first. Solid Snake is the absolute coolest, but I def did not hate Raiden |
GreyShadow
08.16.18 | I thought beating Sif would invigorate me to finally finish this game. I was trapped on Quelaag for years and I'd just give up but finally did it this year. I beat Sif without taking too many tries (I do feel like I kinda got lucky but wow if you just stay out of range it becomes far less daunting)
Then I got to Sen's Fortress, opened up the Mimic chest, said "fuck no" and haven't touched the game in about a month ish now.
I love and hate the game. I love how the world is designed and just how much there is to do, but I feel like I never progressed as a player even by getting further in the game. |

08.16.18 | You can try the easy way with Havel's armor,a shield that blocks 100% dmg and a heavy sword like Zweihander. You're gonna be slow af so you'll need a ring for that but if you have it the game becomes a lot easier from my experience...Don't give up on it,it's one of the greatest games of all time |

08.16.18 | He can't get Havel's armor until Anor Londo though, and it is better to have a 100% dmg reduction shield and being able to fast roll. Sif is a boss you can fight early but it's not a good idea for first time players by the way, and come on, the game isn't that hard, is it? |

08.16.18 | Sen's fortress was like my favorite part of the game lol. I love traps and Indiana Jones type stuff |
Zig
12.15.18 | Must say, thanks to this list I went back playing DS and got surprisingly good at it. I even managed to beat Four Kings (and others bosses) on my first try. With Ornstein and Smough I did it on my 6th or 7th try. Looking back when I first played DS back in 2013, it's a frustrating game when the player is not willing to understand the mechanics behind it. Now, I do enjoy the game very much. |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.15.18 | Aha rock on, dude. How much of the rest of the series have you played? |
Gyromania
12.15.18 | idk how anyone can think ornstein and smough is the best boss fight in the game, and many claiming it to be the best of all time. it was a gank fight with wonky mechanics |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.15.18 | There were a couple of stray hitboxes and lightning glitches, sure, but the design of the two bosses was so complimentary and allowed for all sorts of strategies and player initiative. It ain't the best in the game though, can agree on that |
Gyromania
12.15.18 | friede and ariandel >>>> o&s imo |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.15.18 | Gotta agree on that. That fight pushes you way further and the doubleboss bit is more relentless |
JayEnder
12.15.18 | Fuck I meant those skelly bois with the spiked wheels. Not pinwheel lmao. |
Zig
12.16.18 | @johnnydeking29: Only DS. I only own a 360 and was thinking about getting DS2, but people say that’s not that good. Do you think it is worth playing it ? |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | that moment when you think it's over too, and friede stands up again as black flame friede. chills. |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.16.18 | Yeah DS2 is definitely worth playing if you get the DLC, but it's a different experience. DS1 worked because of the depth of its atmosphere and world; DS2 works best if you treat it more as an RPG
Hahaha Gyro don't even start on that, I've got a MLGS character stuck on her atm and I don't wanna remember |
Koris
12.16.18 | DS2 is actually quite good. Great bosses, some of the best DLC content in the series (just get Scholar of the First Sin if you can), and some of the best replay value in the series as well. I highly recommend it, even as it gets criticized by many fans |
Dewinged
12.16.18 | @Zig it's a great game. Get on it. |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | ds2 is a masterpiece too, i just wish the hitboxes weren't such garbage |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | top 5 souls bosses are prob:
gael
fume knight
friede
dancer
artorias |
Koris
12.16.18 | Dancer is still the hardest boss I've ever battled to this day, and that's including all the Souls games |
Dewinged
12.16.18 | Darklurker for me maybe. |
Koris
12.16.18 | It's weird but not a lot of people seem to ever agree with me on the Dancer thing. A lot of people say Fume Knight, but I got through that one ok. Dancer wrecked my shit for a week straight and I was ready to throw my PS4 out the window |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | dancer owned me for a solid 3 hours when i first fought her, but after that i started to really study her moves and it became much easier for me. you can dodge roll through most of what she does. i think the fight is supposed to look like a choreographed dance, hence her name |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.16.18 | Oh man, Dancer's got some weird patterns but I took her down level 35 last playthrough
Gyro man, where are your BB bosses?
Ludwig
Friede
Nameless
Artorias
Kalameet
or something |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | i think kalameet is dogshit personally. loved the design, hated the hitbox bs in the fight.
as for favourite bloodborne bosses? orphan of kos hands down. maybe my favouite fromsoft boss ever, but ludwig comes damn close... i will say tho, fighting both at higher ng+ really sucks. i feel like the scaling in bloodborne is nonsense compared to souls. bloodborne also has my least favourite fromsoft boss, laurence the first vicar, who is the poster child of artificial difficulty in gaming imo. if i did a soulsborne list, it would prob be:
orphan
gael
ludwig
fume knight
friede |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.16.18 | Never minded the hitboxes personally, it made me wary in a way I thought was suitable for a buffed up dragon fight. I love the way it forces you to move around in open space, similar to Sif but with a way more interesting movepool
Can't argue with Orphan, such phenomenal design and difficulty. The only reason that and Gael aren't higher on my list is that I'm still not confident with them tbh. And by nonsense do you mean crazy easy? I found almost all NG+ a pushover |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.16.18 | Also if Laurence is your artificial difficult posterboi I'm guessing you never played Nioh |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | i meant too difficult. try ludwig and orphan on ng+7 and tell me they're easy lol |
JohnnyoftheWell
12.16.18 | Hahaha go on then, think my character is somewhere around the end of NG+2 so will get the Blades of Mercy out and lyk |
Gyromania
12.16.18 | nioh has some bs artificial difficulty too but i never played it past the first few hours, got kinda bored of it for whatever reason. laurence is complete dogshit though. small room, boss with massive aoe and huge hitbox, takes around 300 hits to kill, can one shot you in like 3 different ways. i just hate ever single thing about it. it's a shame because i think his design is pretty cool despite being a reskin, but i've never derived any enjoyment from fighting him |
Anthracks
01.04.21 | bump. just beat DS1 for the first time. honestly disappointed at the lack of difficulty. i beat kalameet and magnus on my first try, great wolf sif without taking damage. didn't die to gwen either. o&s only killed me twice. still really fun even though the endgame with a cakewalk and I heard they had like no resources or time to finish the game or something.
i'm playing through them all in order and so far the hardest boss for me (by a big margin) was the Maneaters |
Minushuman24
01.04.21 | someone's got a big ol dick |
Minushuman24
01.04.21 | I really need to play through demon's souls tho, I have a feeling it will be a lot harder for me. |
CaliggyJack
01.04.21 | If you think that's hard wait till DS2 |
