Veldin's Top 50 Albums of 2015
Here are my favorite 50 albums from this stunning year. I had about 300 total albums to choose from and after some careful consideration these are MY favorites from the year. I excluded duplicates from the same artist. Honorable mentions that weren't included are Oblivion Access (Lil Ugly Mane), The Bootleg Series Vol. 12 (Bob Dylan) and Simulacrum (John Zorn). |

I had been waiting to hear, "Behemoth" put to tape and I'm quite satisfied with the results. I personally enjoy this more than their previous release. |
17 | | Of Montreal Aureate Gloom
The average rating being lower than their previous album, "Lousy..." is quite frustrating seeing as this album has a more focused and effective sound with far more interesting and engaging lyricism. |
16 | | mewithoutYou Pale Horses
Saw them on tour for this; they never disappoint. |
15 | | Milo So The Flies Don't Come
I'm a pretty big fan of Milo and this LP took time to grow on me, but now it's my favorite release by the eclectic, young rapper. |
14 | | Plini Trilogy
I've been following this artist through his collection of EPs and his final culmination is a satisfying and rewarding astral journey. |
13 | | John Zorn True Discoveries of Witches & Demons
One of several excellent albums Zorn has released this year. My personal favorite with the most lasting value for my personal tastes. A must listen for fans of extreme jamz |
12 | | Father John Misty I Love You, Honeybear
I'm a sucker for romantics and cynicism. |
11 | | Donnie Trumpet and The Social Experiment Surf
An experimental hip-hop/RnB album I've returned to numerous times over the year. Every damn song is catchy and infectious. |
10 | | Horrendous Anareta
Probably the most fun I've had with a metal record all year. |
9 | | Native Construct Quiet World
It excites me when young people take an ambition concept and project idea and solidify it into actual work. This is the result of some college progressive rock fans that made their dreams reality. |
8 | | Dodheimsgard A Umbra Omega
An experimental metal album of cosmic proportions. |
7 | | Lil Ugly Mane Third Side of Tape
As impressive, enjoyable and accessible as "Oblivion Access" is, this album introduced me to his work and impressed the hell out of me. A dense collage of various genres, ideas and eras. Another one of those lengthy albums that will surely reward the listener for their patience. |
6 | | Sun Kil Moon Universal Themes
BECAUSE HE'S CUTE AND HE'S DOWN THERE AND HE'S DYING. I honestly liked this more than the already superb Benji from last year. F@#$ The War on Drugs |
5 | | Clarence Clarity No Now
A shocking surprise that I just found that instantly grabbed my attention and took me along for a thrilling hour long adventure. |
4 | | Bjork Vulnicura
Mama Bjork's tears bloom into beautiful compositions detailing an intense and romanticized break up. |
3 | | Death Grips The Powers That B
The long awaited and heavily hyped double LP by the eccentric Hip-hop trio is everything I could have asked for. |
2 | | Kendrick Lamar To Pimp a Butterfly
Instant classic hip-hop record. Not much to say that hasn't been proposed more elegantly. |
1 | | Kamasi Washington The Epic
Quite literally an EPIC jazz record the ages. A culmination of influences and styles, this album is a stunning and invigorating three hour master piece. |
