| Favorite Albums Lyrically
Whether it's personal relatability, emotional impact, or just straight up amazing writing, there are some of my favorite albums based on the lyrical content. Not in any order. Definitely missing some big ones, but this is just what I've thought off of the top of my head. Also, these aren't necessarily my favorite lyrics off these albums, just some of my favorites. | 1 | | Johnny Hobo and the Freight Trains Love Songs For The Apocalypse
"May our only occupation be not having a job
May the only cocktails that we make be Molotov" | 2 | | mewithoutYou Brother, Sister
"Oh pious and profane, a glass can only spill what it contains!" | 3 | | Eyedea and Abilities By the Throat
"Empathy is the poor man's cocaine
And love is just a chemical by any other name" | 4 | | Eyedea and Abilities First Born
"He tried to slit his wrists about a month ago
But he's seen so much death, he's scared to life of suicide" | 5 | | Death Cab for Cutie Transatlanticism
"I wanted to believe in all the words that I was speaking,
As we moved together in the dark" | 6 | | nouns Still
"Through degrees of separation
I learned degrees were separating us" | 7 | | Spirit Night Shame
"And I don’t miss the days I thought that you were mine
It’s funny how that fades with time" | 8 | | Aesop Rock None Shall Pass
"Eye for an eye, by the bog life swamps and vines
They get a rise out of frogs and flies" | 9 | | The Antlers Hospice
"I'd happily take all those bullets inside you and put them inside of my self" | 10 | | flatsound i clung to you hoping we'd both drown
"i cant stand that you’re talking when you shouldn’t be living
i didn’t dodge all your bullets i just denied that they hit me " | |

10.07.16 | KMFDM - Symbols e.g. "Like a fiendish tropic virus spitting bile at all you whores, razor-sharp, tongue-in-cheek, poking in your open sores." Not exactly Shakespeare, but I love how vivid the imagery is.
Mr. Bungle - California e.g. the entirety of None Of Them Knew They Were Robots.
RTJ2 actually... "Liars and politicians, profiteers of the prisons
The forehead engravers, enslavers of men and women
Includin' members of clergy that rule on you through religion
(So strippin' kids to the nude and then tell 'em God'll forgive 'em)"
Akron Family self-titled, e.g. "All of my dreams are memories that I can’t place to a time or a face
But my body knows of the ribbons and bows that I once was tied in, in my mother’s skin." | Polyethylene
10.07.16 | Quite a lot of my favourite lyrics come from prog rock (Floyd, Genesis, KC)... there's something about such melodramatic music that seems to generate, or go hand in hand with, profound lyrics. | zakalwe
10.07.16 | Disillusioned words like bullets bark
As human gods aim for their mark
Make everything from toy guns that spark
To flesh-colored Christs that glow in the dark
It's easy to see without looking too far that not much is really sacred | Sinternet
10.07.16 | andrew jackson jihad - people who can eat people
So here’s to you Mrs. Robinson
People love you more
Oh nevermind
In fucking fact Mrs. Robinson
The world won’t care whether you live or die
In fucking fact Mrs. Robinson
They probably hate to see your stupid face
So here’s to you Mrs. Robinson
You live in an unforgiving place

10.07.16 | Bill Wells & Aidan Moffat - The Most Important Place In The World
The Myopic old optician couldn't see how he would fail
The baker stayed too long and ended moulderin' and stale
The vets been put to sleep, it's sad, they're empty for a year.
The barbers' blades are blunted now but we're still here.
We're still here.
We watched the florist wilt and wane and wither into dust
The bank was in the red, lost all its savin's and went bust
At the bookies all the bets are off, the winner is unclear
And the pharmacy has overdosed but we're still here. | zakalwe
10.07.16 | My all time fave.
'N' every gimmick hungry yob digging gold from rock 'n' roll
Grabs the mike to tell us he'll die before he's sold
But I believe in this and it's been tested by research
He who fucks nuns will later join the church | elliootsmeuth
10.07.16 | What song is it from? | elliootsmeuth
10.07.16 | Nice pfp btw | ConcubinaryCode
10.07.16 | Disintegration by the cure off the top of my head. Just beautifully written in terms of lyrics and music. |
