Top 30 Songs of 2016

30 favourite songs of 2016. Absolutely ripper year, and these 30 tracks were the soundtrack to all of it. Only rule was I didn't want to double up on artists. A few songs missed out due to that. Songs are in no specific order aside from the 3, 2 and 1.
30Blink 182
Sober

Catchy as hell. Don't care how guilty I am for enjoying this pleasure.
29Real Friends
Empty Picture Frames

Excellent representation of one of my favourite records of the year.
28Bayharbour
Fading Away

Old school Australian metalcore. Still a guilty pleasure.
27Taking Back Sunday
Death Wolf

Awesome way to kick off the album. A few songs on here could have taken this spot. Still not sure how I feel about the album.
26Fightstar
Overdrive

Really enjoyed their comeback after not listening to them since 2006.
25Horrowshow
Push

Aussie hip-hop is enjoyable as hell when its done right. Recommended listening.
24Bury Tomorrow
Last Light

Metalcore can still be fun.
23Our Hollow, Our Home
Worms Wood

Metalcore can still be fun.
22The Colour Morale
Keep Me In my Body

Never been a massive fan of the band but really enjoy this song.
21Columbus
Raindrop

Another band to watch for in the coming year. Big song shows their potential.
20Kings Of Leon
Around The World

Such a fun, sunny song. Cannot wait to use it in a travel montage or something similar.
19A Day to Remember
Negative Space

Considering they are one of my favourite bands, Bad Vibrations was a hugely disappointing record. So much so that my favourite song was a B-side. But its classic ADTR. That chorus.
18Architects
Momento Mori

Album was disappointing but after finding out the circumstances surrounding it, this song was an incredible finale.
17Polaris
Regress

Arguably did Architects better than Architects do. Serious band to watch for in the future.
16Depatures
1994

Melodic hardcore at it's best.
15Make Them Suffer
Ether

Huge deathcore song, and absolutely huge to experience live.
14Modern Baseball
Wedding Singer

Not my usual style but love the energy this song provides
13Thrice
Salt and Shadow

Album ruled. Song rules. Bands rules.
12The Devil Wears Prada
To The Key Of Evergreen

Biggest song of the bands career.
11Pierce The Veil
Circles

Album was slightly disappointing, but loved this song for the entire year.
10Trophy Eyes
Chlorine

Huge lead single. Highly recommended record to check out.
9Endless Heights
Drain

Serious band to watch for in the coming years. For fans of Basement, Trophy Eyes, Turnover etc.
8Hellions
24

Gave the record 5/5 so picking one song to represent Opera Oblivia was difficult. 24 was a ridiculously good way to kick off a scene classic though.
7Dance Gavin Dance
Betrayed By The Game

Not the biggest fan of this band, but play this song at least once a day. Something so catchy and fun about it.
6Trash Boat
You Know, You Know, You Know

Best new band of 2016. This track is absolutely massive.
5Parkway Drive
Into The Dark

They released Devil's Calling and people lost their minds at the change, but completely overlooked how classic Parkway this song was.
4Dustin Tebbutt
First Light

Most beautiful song I have heard in a long time.
3The Amity Affliction
Blood In My Mouth

Wasn't their strongest album, but this track is one of their best.
2Hands Like Houses
Momentary

Whole album was incredible. This song just stands head and shoulders above the rest.
1Every Time I Die
Map Change

How can a band be so consistent and release their quintessential track 16 years into their career? Incredible.
