12.30.16 | 77 is my fav here i think, somewhat predictably
13 looks cool |
JamieTwort
12.30.16 | 77 should probably be higher actually. I listened to it the other day and enjoyed it more than I remembered. Should have bumped it up but forgot as I just copied this from my RYM list.
13 is gorgeous. |
Cygnatti

Chortles

JamieTwort
12.31.16 | Thanks guys.
@sach: didn't recognise it was you for a second and feared you might be saying that unironically. |
JamieTwort
12.31.16 | Glad you liked 6 calmrose, kinda went under the radar here. |
bigsoulja
12.31.16 | lmao |
JamieTwort
12.31.16 | Did you check that Tanner Garza split, sach? |
bigsoulja
12.31.16 | nop tbh
dude's fallen off pretty hard this year, and i've also grown off ambient pretty hard this year
you might like this btw:

JamieTwort
12.31.16 | I'm not really the biggest Garza fan myself besides Regret but I liked that split a lot (probably more than it's placement on my singles ranking suggests).
Will check, looks dece. |
zakalwe
12.31.16 | There is some interesting stuff on here that I'll check soon as.
Nice one JT. |
JamieTwort
12.31.16 | Cheers zak. |
ScuroFantasma
12.31.16 | Nice list, quite enjoyed 56, I reaaally need to check 49 |
JamieTwort
12.31.16 | Thanks Scuro. Yeah I liked 56 a lot too but 48 was a bit more in the vein of what I want to hear from Ulver. As for 49, it's rare for me to find a modern death metal album I'm interested in so its inclusion here says a lot about how I feel about that album. |
dreamgazing
12.31.16 | the sticky drama remix is one of my favorite pc music related things |
JamieTwort
12.31.16 | I wasn't sure at first but it's grown on me. |
YakNips
01.01.17 | wonderful list, although i have a sneaking suspicion it was you that removed paradise valley |
bigsoulja
01.01.17 | 2016 was the year pc music died, r.i.p. |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | Thanks Yak. It wasn't me who got Paradise Valley removed, it really wouldn't have bothered me if it stayed in the database or not. |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | As for PC music in 2016, Danny L Harle's Ashes of Love was alright. |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | You were right sach, that Angelo Harmsworth album is right up my street. |
Yotimi
01.01.17 | Don't know how I missed that Jam City put something out this year |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | It seemed a fairly low profile release. |
Phlegm
01.01.17 | and pretty weak unfortunately.. aside from that though, excellent list Jamie!
|
YetAnotherBrick
01.01.17 | Damn, great stuff |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | @Phlegm: I liked it a lot (obvs), more than a lot of their previous material in fact which I'm fairly lukewarm towards. Thanks!
Cheers, Brick. |
granitenotebook
01.01.17 | good taste. did you check "midnight on rainbow road" by leon vynehall? came out this year
also his first ep/lp/whatever you call it is SUPER good imo |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | Thanks. I never got around to Midnight on Rainbow Road bizarrely. I had the vinyl release in my discogs basket for ages but never actually purchased it for some reason. |
bigsoulja
01.01.17 | yeah nah I knew you were into that lo-fi droney ish so yeaaah |
KILL
01.01.17 | havent heard any sweet |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | Dude you should check 49. I mean how often do I dig modern death metal? Hardly ever so it must have something. |
KILL
01.01.17 | oh yea i heard that one lol
sweet i'm more up to date than i thought |
JamieTwort
01.01.17 | lol nice. |
bigsoulja

Conmaniac
01.01.17 | what a link |
Atari
01.02.17 | Cool list man, there's a ton of stuff on here I'll have to check out :) |
zaruyache
01.02.17 | more ambient to dig through before trying to compile my list woop. |
JamieTwort
01.02.17 | Thanks dudes, I'll pick out some individual recs that you might particularly like in a bit. |
RadicalEd
01.02.17 | List is gud. Jamie Twort is best JT (get fucked Justin Timberlake). Will check quiet a few of those. |
JamieTwort
01.02.17 | Thanks Ed. You are the most radical Ed I know of. |
JamieTwort
01.02.17 | @Cap: Glad you're digging 1. I'd recommend checking 41 for some more deep house in a similar vein and also 5, which I can really see you liking.
@Atari: I'd recommend checking 6 which has some very strong Grouper vibes, although a lot less folky than the Grouper albums you have rated and is more akin to her more ambient material such as A I A. Definitely check 3 as well, I'm sure I must have rec'd you some Benoit before but his new one is up there with some of his best for me. I can also see you digging 58 and 81.
@zaru: 13 is easily the most underrated/overlooked ambient release of the year for me so definitely check that out. Also the Celer albums are def worth checking (and are available for name your price download on bandcamp). |
p4p
01.02.17 | sexy list. def will check 5 and that Mssingno comp. |
zaruyache
01.02.17 | I'll definitely check it tonight, then. Celer seem to have a few good albums and then a bunch of meh ones. |
Atari
01.02.17 | Cheers JT, always appreciate the recs. I'm gonna be catching up on some music at work tomorrow and I'll check those out then! |
JamieTwort
01.02.17 | Thanks, p4p.
@Cap: Both the Celer albums would work for sleep music. 6, 13, 14 and 15 would work too, particularly 14 which has a really strong late night vibe which echoes the writing and recording process which happened in one all night session if I remember correctly.
@zaru: Yeah naturally with being so prolific Celer's releases aren't always on point but when he gets it right he makes some really great ambient (not that I've listened to anywhere near all of his material). |
JamieTwort
01.02.17 | and no prob Atari, hope you dig. Have you heard 30? I figured that was something you might have checked already. |
Atari
01.04.17 | I'm digging 6 quite a bit, great rec. some spots kinda remind me of julianna barwick's latest if you haven't heard it you might enjoy it
and no I actually haven't heard 30, but I've been getting more into indie pop and pop in general so i'll check that out as well! |
RadicalEd
01.05.17 | 3 is easily his best since Lasted. |
JamieTwort
01.05.17 | @Atari: Glad you liked 6, man. I haven't actually heard Barwick's latest, should probably check that out.
Agreed Ed, might just be my second favourite album of his. |
RadicalEd
01.06.17 | 6 Reminded me of a bit more adventerous version of Barwick as well. |
JamieTwort
01.06.17 | Yeah it definitely has shades of Barwick based on what I've heard of her earlier work. |
ShitsofRain
01.06.17 | oh, love for 57 THERE IS A GHOST IN THE HOUSE |
JamieTwort
01.06.17 | GET THE F...
Should prob be ranked higher. |
JamieTwort
01.06.17 | Yeah after a couple of listens it had to be added and it coincided with me re-listening to something and not digging it as much as I did previously so it was an easy switch. |
