10.02.17 | Yeah, yeah, I know, fuck me for liking Hollywood movies. |
Satellite
10.02.17 | you seem to like everything. i'm kind of envious of that tbh.
saw 2 with my dad. it was fine but nearly as depressing as 3.
9 was ruined by the overuse of cheap, unnecessary jump scares. i was bummed because it looked so promising. better than the super overrated tv film at least.
4 and 7 are a couple of my favorites of this year. action/comedy done to perfection. |
neekafat
10.02.17 | I mean, I usually see movies that I think I'm going to like haha that just happens to usually end up being true |
ONEPUNCHMAN
10.02.17 | A bit friendly |
brainmelter
10.02.17 | watch Mother my dude
|
neekafat
10.02.17 | @agreed on 4 and 7 Sat, did you see 1
@brain I think I might go see it tomorrow! |
Satellite
10.02.17 | i didn't see 1 mainly because i have comic book movie fatigue. only one i saw this yr was guardians 2, which i enjoyed.
also (and i'm about to sound 80 yrs old) going to the movies is too goddamn expensive. |
Papa Universe
10.02.17 | mother! is a date movie for sure... |
neekafat
10.02.17 | @Sat, try moviepass, everyone at my film school won't shut up about it and I'm about to give it a go myself. $10 a month for free movies any time you like and it works at every movie chain
It's literally a steal |
JeetJeet
10.02.17 | 4 & 8 are really fuckin good. I suggest you watch Julia Ducournau's Raw. Its fuckin insanely good and disturbing. Also A Cure For Wellness was epic as hell. |
BlushfulHippocrene
10.03.17 | Good stuff Neeks. Excited to watch Wind River, sounds amazing. Definitely watch mother! [3] |
someguest
10.03.17 | You overrate films. |
neekafat
10.03.17 | I've got to watch mother, I know! @Jeet I definitely well, and I'm interested to check Wellness, it was actually good? I've heard very mixed things
@someguest probably ye |
neekafat
10.03.17 | @blush, and you got to let me know whatcha think of Wind River! |
Drifter
10.03.17 | How did you pick the albums on this list |
MarsKid
10.03.17 | @Satellite agreed hard dude, I am burnt out by the Marvel formula |
JeetJeet
10.03.17 | Yea Cure For Wellness is dope. The cinematography is incredible and its batshit crazy. The only issue is that its runtime is a little too long, but it never really feels boring. |
Rowan5215
10.03.17 | "super overrated tv film"
wait I have literally never encountered anyone who likes the Tim Curry IT, what are you on about, that shit is awful
jumpscares kinda make sense in a movie that revolves around children getting terrified daily?? |
zaruyache
10.03.17 | just watched What Happened to Monday on Netflix recently and loved it. Do recommend if you like dystopia scifi. Can't wait for Bladerunner too, on that note. |
neekafat
10.03.17 | @drifter close to the rating I'd give it/similar atmosphere usually/sometimes puns
@Jeet I'll be sure to check it!
@Mars you and everyone in my film school
"jumpscares kinda make sense in a movie that revolves around children getting terrified daily??" [2] |
neekafat
10.03.17 | @zaru yeah I heard about that it seemed up my alley if a bit weird, and I'm definitely pumped too! |
MarsKid
10.03.17 | Guardians 2 was a big disappointment too tbh, piss-poor development with terrible forced jokes that reach waaaaay down into the bottom of the barrel, with the only interesting character biting the dust and no longer having any impact on the story |
Rowan5215
10.03.17 | I recommend Gerald's Game on Netflix to any horror fans
claustrophobic, lowkey, absolutely nerve wracking King adaptation |
neekafat
10.03.17 | @Rowan hmmmmm I may have to put that on my list
@Mars Spiderman was way better than Guardians 2 tho |
MarsKid
10.03.17 | I didn't watch it so I have no opinion on that, though I honestly don't know if I have the energy for it/Marvel/their formula any more. It's exhausting. |
tempest--
10.03.17 | Kumail is bae |
Minushuman24
10.03.17 | Baby Driver is by far my favorite movie of this year, so far |
neekafat
10.03.17 | @Mars your loss, it's worth it alone for Keaton
@Minus, I really liked it, but it just wasn't as good as the Cornetto films. |
Clumseee
10.03.17 | Get Out
Baby Driver
It/Logan
Really disappointed by The Big Sick. It's just hard to love it when Master of None is out there being a 10/10. |
MarsKid
10.03.17 | Saw It last night, lot of jump scares but it was a good movie overall. Had fun |
neekafat
10.03.17 | Idk man I loved it. Master of None didn't click with me the first couple episodes but I should probs try it again
Glad you liked it man, 3.5/5 for you? |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Ok... so I just saw mother |
zaruyache
10.04.17 | ahaha and? |
Futures
10.04.17 | wind river is so good. such a brutally beautiful movie. probably the best performances of the year. love how bernthal is in it for 5 mins and steals the whole thing dude is incredible. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | I'm not sure but I think it's a 5/5
@Futures yes agreed, love it to death |
zaruyache
10.04.17 | Definitely get on Baby Driver. |
theBoneyKing
10.04.17 | You're very lenient with your film ratings eh? There are only a handful of films I've ever seen that I'd rate over 4/5. |
Futures
10.04.17 | also the new blade runner is going to be so good. villaneuve is a visionary. one of the few films i will actually see opening night. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | @Boney, what can I say? I love film and I love loving it
@Futures Villaneuve might be the best up-and-coming filmmaker working. Prisoners and Arrival are probably two of my favorite films. |
Futures
10.04.17 | yeah same here. hugh jackman in prisoners is one of the best performances ever. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Jesus I need to re-watch that. Him and Gyllenhaal are two of my favorite actors haha |
BlushfulHippocrene
10.04.17 | Villeneuve is indeed incredible. You need to watch Incendies if you haven't Neeka. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | I haven't yet! I gotta do that, I want to watch his entire filmog (lol filmog doesn't sound as good as discog) |
BlushfulHippocrene
10.04.17 | Polytechnique and Enemy are great, too. :3 And true, haha. I think I hear catalogue more with regard to film(?) |
Futures
10.04.17 | he hasn't made anything close to a bad movie. in fact they are all great. not many people you can say that about. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Enemy was very good but didn't click with me as well as I'd have liked!
I say that about Nolan but most disagree |
Futures
10.04.17 | dark knight rises is pretty ok and interstellar mostly stinks. haven't seen insomnia but the rest is very good yeah. i think fincher fits it more to me at least. |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Big fan of both so there you go. Tarantino too. Coen brothers have made some stinkers |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Oooooooh Fincher yah good pick haven't seen all of his yet tho |
Futures
10.04.17 | what haven't you seen of his? hasn't made a bad movie imo. |
Astral Abortis
10.04.17 | not totally related to this list but it's a movie list so
omg is anyone else excited for Isle of Dogs? calling it now FOTY 2018 |
tempest--
10.04.17 | yea looks cute |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Not sure haha just haven't seen them all
Yeah that one looks awesome tbh, only really a big fan of Grand Budapest by him tho |
tempest--
10.04.17 | dude Moonrise Kingdom is the best movie ever |
zakalwe
10.04.17 | Wind River sounds interesting but let me guess.
Sweeping panoramas
Delicate snowfall
A sense of personal isolation among the expanse of wild open land.
Characters who mumble incoherently for 70% of their dialogue.
A scene of brutal violence.
Minimal soundtrack.
Am I warm? |
JeetJeet
10.04.17 | Bladerunner 2049 lookin like it'll be movie of the year. Either that or Mother! |
neekafat
10.04.17 | All except for the mumbling and delicacy
I could see that JeetJeet! |
neekafat
10.04.17 | Oh and several scenes |
