10.14.17 | Barre is also quite funny, at one point referencing the great blues artist, Ironing Board Willie (he was a great player, although his singing could be a little flat). His lead singer squinted when he sang, so that he resembled Robert DeNiro playing Jake Lamotta in "Raging Bull". I enjoyed that they played some seldom-played-live Tull songs like "Nothing to Say", "Love Story" and "Sealion". | Papa Universe

10.14.17 | I am a prog fan, but not so much a blues fan. But this was a great show. And Tull is one of my favorite groups (some days, it IS my favorite). | Divaman
10.14.17 | "Hunting Girl" might have been my favorite part of the night. | SandwichBubble
10.14.17 | Quite the set I'm sure
Also, are Barre's solo records good? Never even crossed my mind to listen to them | Divaman
10.14.17 | I've never heard one. Judging by the stuff he played live from his most recent album, they're very blues oriented. | Jethro42
10.14.17 | So you enjoyed that show, Diva. Nice list! Setlist looks good, but is not perfect regarding the Tull songs. It started in a good, promising way, but they're missing some classic Tull that they could have put instead of couple of average songs. I guess they all sounded great live, so it's all fine. He revisited most of Tull albums which is a plus. Will listen to 3 and 14 by curiosity. And 2 is from Crest of a Knave ;) | Jethro42
10.14.17 | @Sandwich, I've only heard Back to Steel, and it sounds close to Dire Strait, with a more dirty guitar playing. | someguest
10.14.17 | (on camera): On the other subject, I was reading your book. Is it Curtis Mayfield you have bad associations with?
THOMPSON: Whenever I hear Curtis Mayfield's "Freddie's Dead," just as a kid, that particular structure always frightened me.
BOURDAIN: "Aqualung," Jethro Tull, I whipped into a murderous rage right away.
THOMPSON: Even now?
BOURDAIN: Even now. I'm angry that that band ever existed. I hate that whole Englishy, old, bar minstrelly, stand-on-one-leg mother (EXPLETIVE DELETED). I hate that (EXPLETIVE DELETED).
(LAUGHTER)
BOURDAIN: You never know when you play music, were they molested by a rodeo clown to that song.
(CROSSTALK)
BOURDAIN: And Jethro Tull is my version of that.

Damn, you're right. Brain freeze! I'll fix it now. | Divaman
10.14.17 | Yeah, I know how much Bourdain hates Tull. That's why I'm glad they made the bastard eat warthog anus. | someguest
