DominionMM1
07.28.19 | you have truly lost your way young man |
Keyblade
07.28.19 | idk wtf 9 is supposed to be tho, looks like a phxc album lol |
Drifter
07.28.19 | Yeah key City of Syrup is amazing. Love it so much.
Broken Record is an alt rap album and the album that got me into hip hop. Singlehandedly turned me from one of those kids who would be like "they don't even play real instruments" to a fan. Dope album. Some of the best beats you'll ever hear. |
Drifter
07.28.19 | "explain 7"
Album's dope what else can I say. |
JustJoe.
07.28.19 | needs more cannibal ox |
JustJoe.
07.28.19 | good list though drift |
Drifter
07.28.19 | Thanks Joe. I need to get The Cold Vein too! That and JMT are both from my 2000 list. |
JustJoe.
07.28.19 | for my money it’s the greatest but anyhow i hope you enjoy it whenever you get around to it |
Ryus
07.28.19 | 6 is good but nothing else ive heard here is my style |
NeroCorleone80
07.28.19 | Yeah my list would be totally different. Surprised you have mostly 90s stuff. |
Drifter
07.28.19 | @Nero why lol |
NeroCorleone80
07.28.19 | Aren't you like 16? Just figured you'd have a couple more modern picks. |
Drifter
07.28.19 | Oh yeah lol. 90s is the best era
90s>00s>80s>10s but there's obviously countless classics from every decade |
Doibhin69
07.29.19 | 7 is pretty meh but to each his own |
Drifter
07.29.19 | What are your guys' top 10's? |
Doibhin69
07.29.19 | idk if i have a top 10 but liquid swords would prob be in there if i did |
Drifter
07.29.19 | I haven't been able to get into that album. I have a tough time getting into east coast that isn't like 96/05 lol |
Doibhin69
07.29.19 | i can get into literally any kind of music lol |
GodLovesUgly
08.03.19 | Haha still praising Encore eh, haven't heard Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back in years. The Blueprint and All Eyez on Me are two albums that I like but don't love as much as most others, haven't heard the rest but nice unique list. |
Drifter
08.03.19 | Thanks man! Yeah RRaGB is incredible. Every song can be played individually or be in a playlist but it's one of the most cohesive albums I know of. Amazing. I wrote a review for it.
All Eyez On Me is the goat and blueprint has god tier beats and dope rapping
Check out 4-Tay if you want the smoothest of g funk |
GodLovesUgly
08.03.19 | Yea I've been meaning to listen to 4-Tay for years but kept sleeping on him. |
Drifter
08.03.19 | That and the two surrounding it are his best. His one before Off Parole is his "classic" and his biggest hits which you've probably heard (Playaz Club, I'll Be Around) |
Typhoon24
08.03.19 | I figured 1 was gonna be 1 but this is one of the most unique lists I’ve seen so far |
GodLovesUgly
08.03.19 | Drifter I'll hopefully get to it soon |
Drifter
08.03.19 | @typhoon haha hopefully thats in a good way! What's your top 10? |
Typhoon24
08.03.19 | Yeah I mean anything fresh is good.
I couldn’t do a top 10 albums off the top but it would def have aquemini, vaudeville villain, ridin dirty and doggystyle in there. And some wu shit. Also kool g raps first album...Ridin Dirty would be #1 |
Drifter
08.03.19 | Fr? Ridin Dirty #1? Nice. I wish I loved that one like everyone else but maybe it still needs to grow |
Typhoon24
08.03.19 | I just spent a month or more listening to Houston area rap and it grew on me everyday. But it changes, like 5 years ago I’d say Reasonable Doubt as #1 |
Typhoon24
08.03.19 | Also I grew up in the south and I felt the two had perfect chemistry |
NeroCorleone80
08.09.19 | Ridin' Dirty would be my #1 too |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Yeah I've always lived in Cali so there may be some correlation/bias lol.
I think Dogg Pound is the best rap duo because of their chemistry and just bars. They always sound like they're having a good time. What do you guys think? |
foxblood
08.09.19 | I'll have to check City of Syrup then |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Do that fox. southern influenced g funk and the dude has an amazing and unique singing voice |
foxblood
08.09.19 | ooh smooth, I like the singing and beats. most rappers can't sing for shit, it's missing from g-funk sometimes |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Many of the beats are genre greats imo. I Wonder would probably land in my top 10 g funk songs |
foxblood
08.09.19 | get back is really good. title track too |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Yeah Get Back was in my head for a while yesterday and tt is often in there as well. Hooks on it are amazing |
foxblood
08.09.19 | yeah singing this good is pretty rare in hip-hop, maybe better than nate dogg tbh |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Yeah idk I'd prob put Nate above him still just cus i love him but Moe is amazing as well. He's got so much personality too. His flow was tight (that Maan song!) He really had everything going for him. Such a shame he passed away so young |
NeroCorleone80
08.09.19 | check Z-Ro if you want the best r'n'b hip-hop |
Drifter
08.09.19 | I heard Z-Ro Tolerance because of Daz but i need to get on his classics. Mind helping me out telling me which ones they are lol |
NeroCorleone80
08.09.19 | Cocaine is my favorite. Let the Truth Be Told is probably his most acclaimed. |
Drifter
08.09.19 | alright ill keep that in mind next time I'm checking southern stuff
he features on CoS so im definitely interested. Is he the one that sings? that sounds interesting |
Typhoon24
08.09.19 | Life of Joseph McVey is up there too |
Drifter
08.09.19 | Oh i thought he had like no ratings on here but he has a few albums with some. Cool I'll try and check them soon. I like his artwork |
NeroCorleone80
08.09.19 | He has the first verse on the title track |
neekafat
08.09.19 | How much would I hate these |
Drifter
08.09.19 | I think you'd like 9. You liked the one right after it which was my least favorite of theirs |
Typhoon24
08.10.19 | you'd love 7 |
TVC15
08.10.19 | Oh shit how did I miss this, surprised by the lack of Snoop :o
Awesome seeing Big Moe in there |
foxblood
08.10.19 | the title track for City Of Syrup is too good, that god damn hill top zone style keyboard |
TVC15
08.11.19 | The Careless Whisper chorus on Pay My Dues is prob the best moment on City of Syrup tbh |
Drifter
08.11.19 | ALL I WANNA DO
IS BANG SCREW
IN MY DIRTY THIRD
CITY OF SYRUP BANG SCREW
|
Drifter
08.11.19 | Not my favorite TVC but its a really memorable one for sure. |
Drifter
01.19.23 | this was a good era of my life that i wish i could return to |
