luci
09.12.19 | my reliable sleep ambient:
terekke - improvisational loops
chihei hatakeyama - void xv
bing and ruth - tomorrow was the golden age
warmth - home
|
Archelirion
09.12.19 | Ah yeah, Chihei is perennial sleep ambient. He's been a little quieter this year than lately, though Void XIX was still great (forgot to add that actually).
Will check the others out! |
luci
09.12.19 | i've been really enjoying 1 and 2 this year as well. japanese new age/ambient is perfect as a morning listen |
budgie
09.12.19 | this is exactly the kind of shit i want to listen to. thanks for all this recs both of you guys
i really enjoy centerpointe, it's a meditation sort of i don't even know, company that sells meditation tracks, they have one track which is just the sound of rain + rain chimes, and i use it to sleep! i'd link it but it's not on youtube, let me know if you're interested, i can upload it to some file site probably. it's literally just a 30 minute track of rain + chimes. it's so glorious |
Archelirion
09.12.19 | sure man, no problem :] if you want some pre-2019 stuff give Tomasz Bednarczyk, Akira Kosemura and Hirotaka Shirotsubaki a shot too. Chihei's got a huge back catalogue, as does Celer. Irisarri's isn't small either.

09.12.19 | 'i've been really enjoying 1 and 2 this year as well. japanese new age/ambient is perfect as a morning listen' - yeah it is. Hiroshi Yoshimura's the king of that stuff for sure, but I need to investigate what's on 1 more. I'm sure there's some lovely back catalogues to try. |
DungeonBoy
09.12.19 | wow, i've never heard any of this and am looking forward to checking them all out, especially 7 |
Archelirion
09.12.19 | Getting on Moldflowers. This is that good tape shit. Thanks man

09.12.19 | 9 is so so good and has been my go-to for ambient when I'm not feeling Tim Hecker lately. |
DungeonBoy
09.12.19 | 7 is interesting. It's good but a little more programmed than I was hoping for, I was hoping it would be a more natural experience. oh well, on to the next! |
Frippertronics
09.12.19 | Shira Legmann and Michael Pisaro's Barricades is a big essential |

JS19
09.13.19 | all of these are great - haven't heard 4 yet.
New Rafael Anton is probably my favourotebfrom him. He's amped up into a Belong-style sound and its just gorgeous
(also you forgot my 2019 release wow) |
Kompys2000
09.13.19 | Oooh, will check these sometime soon, as I'll be needing some good ambient recs once I've finished chewing through Hecker's discog |
Archelirion
09.13.19 | 'New Rafael Anton is probably my favourotebfrom him. He's amped up into a Belong-style sound and its just gorgeous' - same. I remember Midnight Colours from last year and thinking 'yeah it's nice but it's a little bit insubstantial'. There's a much darker palette being used here and I really like that.
Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit yeah you're Devictus! I really, really like Personal Infinity and still like popping that one on from time to time. Stupidly beautiful stuff. I'll definitely check your new one out. (Also Bristol nice. Portsmouth represent)
Kompys: :] Yeah Hecker's great. I still need to finish his stuff too. There's a lot and it's always so interesting. |
EclipseInYourEyes
09.13.19 | will check these later and report for status |
DungeonBoy
09.13.19 | I dug 4 a lot, thanks for sharing!
I don't know if you know the user Greem, but he has an excellent ambient project called Lifeless and he just put out a record this year that would fit very nicely on this list. It's acoustic guitar and piano. It's very relaxing, ethereal, wanders a lot, and you could certainly fall asleep to it, but in a good way:

09.13.19 | I remember him releasing Everyman (showing my age a little) and liking it, though I was definitely more or a consummate metal dude then so I listened to it a few times and then never returned. Had no idea he was so prolific. Will definitely check the new one out. |
JS19
09.13.19 | Greem is a genius - he honestly just gets better and better with his ambient releases. Fully recommend that dudes output. Also cheers man that means a lot :) and cheers for pointing me the direction of 4 |
JS19
09.13.19 | Speaking of svalbard anyone heard SVLBRD - Stratus. That is a great album that sounds like the cover of 4 looks is definitely worth checking |
ScuroFantasma
10.09.19 | Probably going to get on this stuff before the bm list tbh |
rockandmetaljunkie
10.09.19 | I'll just stick to my regular asmr, thank you |
