Over and Out
I'm taking an indefinite break. It has been a hot and heavy ~1.5 years with Sputnik, with a total of 75 lists generated (including this one). May comment every now and then in the future, but aiming to greatly reduce my involvement in Sputnik in the new year.
Unfortunately, I find that Sputnik is not as warm and welcoming as it once was. Frequently comments received are toxic, to say the least, and juvenile. I generally have thick skin, but it has begun to wear. With that said, however, some comments received were thoughtful and engaging. Sputnik increased my repertoire across multiple metal genres 100 fold, due to some of the incredible recommendations provided by my fellow users. I don't think I have bought so much new music in a 1.5 year period prior. So I sincerely thank you for that, as the good far outweighed the bad.
I leave you with this, take it or leave it. I look forward to new albums by the following in 2020 (or beyond). May Sputnik mature and thrive in 2020 and the next decade. |
1 | | Apocalyptica Cell-O
Cell-O coming out on 01/10/2020 |
2 | | Deftones Gore
Follow-up to Gore coming out sometime in 2020 |
3 | | Five Finger Death Punch F8
Lands on 02/28/2020. I know, not many here are fans (or sure won't claim to be). Well I am. |
4 | | Gemini Syndrome Lux
Recently completed, their new album will finish the trifecta commenced with Lux and last revisited with Memento Mori |
5 | | Gone Is Gone Echolocation
Hoping that the new single "No One Ever Walked on Water" is a sign of an album to come... |
6 | | Guns N' Roses Chinese Democracy
My God, they have to be working on something new, right? Hopefully these huge stadium tours aren't just to rake in the cash from their loyal (and aging) fan base? Hmm.... |
7 | | Killer Be Killed Killer Be Killed
Max Cavalera has hinted of a 2020 release. Great, cause these three vocalists never sounded better... |
8 | | Lowrider Ode to Io
I believe their new album is called "Refractions", was developed on PostWax, and is coming out formally on 2/21/19 on Blues Funeral Recordings. |
9 | | Mastodon Emperor of Sand
The follow-up to Emperor of Sand is in the works, they say... |
10 | | Nightwish Endless Forms Most Beautiful
Endless Forms Most Beautiful was an incredible concept album and work. Can't wait to hear whats coming in 2020... |
11 | | Ozzy Osbourne Scream
Now I liked Scream. But what I really wanted was a final album with none other than Zakk Wylde. Not getting it with "Ordinary Man", as Ozzy chose to ditch his entire band and go with Andrew Watt. WTF? And RHCP's drummer and GNR's bassist. I'm a bit concerned and scared (that this will not be metal enough for Ozzy and me), but will likely purchase when this drops in Jan 2020. |
12 | | Puscifer Donkey Punch the Night
Maynard just can't sit still (and bask in the glory that is Fear Innoculum). Regardless, looking forward to Puscifer's new offering. |
13 | | Soundgarden King Animal
This is becoming quite the fiasco, between the Soundgarden camp and Chris Cornell family. Quite unbelievable...doesn't the family understand that Chris Cornell/Soundgarden was a marriage made in metal heaven?. Those vocal tracks would be utterly wasted, unless Soundgarden provides the backing. Otherwise, who wants another tired, depressing Chris Cornell solo album... |
14 | | Stitched Up Heart Never Alone
Man, did I love "Never Alone". But I have a bad feeling about this one...Darkness is set to come out sometime in 2020... |
15 | | Rob Zombie Astro-Creep: 2000 Live – Songs of Love...
Yes indeed!!! More Zombie please...haven't been able to get enough since Astro-Creep 2000 dropped way back when. |
