01.01.21 | Are songs at least so far unattached to an album alright? Cuz if they are Major Parkinson dropped the single Jonah back last January and it’s been a reliable fix of warm fuzzies and too-fast driving ever since, with very little tolerance built up. But it still a year on has no album to go with it.

But maybe I'll save it for later. Currently, I'll go with Martin Martini and the Bone Palace Orchestra - Take Your Skin Off and Dance (from the Dance Until You Die album), which made me dance out on the balcony once, with all the neighbours giving me strange looks.

2. Shiny - ? What the actual F was that lol. I laughed out loud so it did its job I guess, but in terms of quality or actual enjoyment, nah.
3. Hoppipolla - 4.7 I really need to dive deeper into Sigur Ros, every time I try it I enjoy it but I keep forgetting somehow. Yeah this is Euphoric af and I'm loving it. It has the climax of a 10+ minute post rock song within the first two minutes.
4. Chatroom - 3.3 Yeah this was fun and bubbly. Like with Trif's rec, I don't really 'feel' it but its enjoyable enough. |

3) Hoppipolla - the crown jewel of sigur ros' ascent into cheesy nature music, nice. given how much exposure and protomemeing this (probably) got, i guess it's aged well. 3.6
4) Chatroom - this song made me realise that i'm kinda miserable today and not actually in the mood for euphoric music, speaking of which january in general fking sucks and it's gonna be a long month of misplaced optimism if i stick with this so might as well get used towoah wait a second this is cute and kinda bops i dunno what to rate it let's go one higher than sigur ros 3.7

01.04.21 | >But I do have to wonder why you gave it a second chance.
I always make myself a YouTube playlist for SOTD. Sometimes I leave the sound on when I'm adding a song to the list, sometimes not. This time I did. And its very short, so I heard most of it, and my reaction was "What the hell is this shit?" So the second chance was when I actually listened to it on the day it was scheduled for, by which point it started making sense to me. |

01.05.21 | I think we're having mixed responses due to the contrast between euphoric/happy and excited/happy. Anyway:
1. Appleshine (All The Lights): it was good, and reminded me of a Tom Robbins book of talking things. I would pleasantly listen to it again, probably should give the 20-minute version a try sometime. 3.0
2. Lil Mariko - Shiny feat. Full Tac : I didn't know there was a sugar-pop equivalent of Lingua Ignota, but here we are. I'm a shiny bitch, bitch, how do you likE ME NOW THAT I'M DOMINATING YOU??? Coo' coo' cool. 4.0
3. Hoppipolla - I see the reasons behind the choise, but I do not feel them. Sigur Ros are great, though. 2.5
4. Chatroom - A song that feels like a Hollywood B-Movie about an LA surfer girl at the final months of teenagehood just ended. Didn't do much to me. 2.0
5. Imaginary Folklore - Yeah, I like Nujabes, but this felt a bit like a b-side. Easy-listening. 3.0

Good drums off the bat. Pretty soulful vocals too. 01.07.21 | Imaginary Folklore: My favorite beatmaker! Nujabes songs are always filled with such passion.. Feels pretty standard for his style, so I give it an even 4/5 with room to grow, as I'll certainly come back to this.
Marry Me, Archie: Hey, Hey! I like, don't love, this style. It takes me back. Really well done for what its going for. 3.1/5
Life is a Long Song: Luscious instrumentals! This is natural music, love it. 4.6/5 |

01.08.21 | Imaginary Folklore - gorgeous track! lush, soft-spoken, soul-nourishing shit. gotta check some more Nujabes now, never heard em til now. 4.2
Marry Me, Archie - simple and light-hearted, exactly what it needs to be. vocals and style aren't really my dig but i can appreciate it for what is it. 3.0
Life's A Long Song - pretty standard Jethro, but great song nonetheless. the bright guitar and flute is an easy way to win me over. 3.8 |

01.08.21 | There’s a lot that make me tingle but only a handful that make me want to raise my arms into the air and dance with abandon.
There’s one in particular that takes me to a higher state. Should I be walking along the pavement and it makes an appearance on the old I-pod I will without any hesitation start dancing/shuffling along with it because it has an impact on me whereby it’s impossible not to cut some rug. It engages the mind, body and soul and elevates to nirvana.

01.08.21 | Imaginary Folklore - 4.0 This was lovely, will look up more from this group!
Archie, Marry Me - 2.5 Oeh I really don't like her vocals. It's not my genre either but I can totally see the dreamy apeal of it.
Life is a Long Song - 4.3 This was right up my alley. Need to listen me some more Tull lol.
Big A Little A - 2.0 I think I miss the gene to enjoy punk music or something. Apart from (sometimes) the lyrics I usually see very little that attracks me to it and this is no different, sorry sloth.

01.08.21 | Nice. Dewi promised to drop us a rec as well, so that will leave us with just one opening. |
Divaman
01.08.21 | Crass - Aggressive guitar and weird electro chatter in the background. Then it breaks into a full-grown punk song. It's almost 6 minutes long, though. What ever happened to short, punchy punk songs? Oh well. He sounds pretty passionate, but between his accent and how fast he's singing, I don't really know wtf he's singing about. Song kind of breaks down, or at least gets really quiet, at a little past the three-and-half minute mark. It definitely overstays its welcome. 2.8 |
Egarran
01.08.21 | Imaginary Folklore - Turns out I knew this song from a friend's playlist, so that was weird. Is nice. Don't like her voice much. 3.3/5
Archie, Marry Me - Marry me aw shiit. Very cute, and it reminds me a lot of another song I can't name, so there goes my sleep for the night. 3.7/5
Life is a long song - I knew this before it was cool. I've never been cool with those strings though. IMO they give this phase of Tull such a cheesy sound. 3/5
Big A Little A - We haven't had punk in here for months and I now realize they were blessed months. 2/5
Disengage the Simulator - Highest expectations for this song. I mean, look at that cover. But it's dangerously close to pop-punk. 3/5 |
Mythodea
01.08.21 | Archie, Marry Me - I'm at a point where indie pop is a hit or miss for me, but this time I found it pretty warm and interesting. The melody hook and chorus are ear-worms too. Good one, elevates my mood. 3.5
Life's a Long Song: Yeah, huge love to Jethro Tull. Great Tune. Not the one I'd pick for such a list, but a good song nonetheless. 4.
Big A Little A - Hello, hello, hello this is the British accent, can you hear? It's not like the American, it's really not, I fear... Great song, 4

01.08.21 | Big A Little A: This song is better than it has any right to be lmao. It just keeps going and going, in a good way. Can’t tell what he’s saying 90% of the time, but I can tell it’s PONK as FOCK. 3.3/5 |
Divaman
01.09.21 | CKY - Oh boy, let's get a listen of this one. The album art is terrifying, and frequently budgie is too when he strays away from his dream pop. OK, surprisingly mellow beat. Another drummer too in love with his cymbals. Nevertheless, this isn't nearly as raucous as I expected. 3.0 |

"Life Is a Long Song"
That was cute. The flute and acoustic guitar were both fun and light.
3.5/5
"Big A Little A"
The children singing seem so sinister. Classic Crass, fun lyrics, good bass, yeah masterclass stuff. I like the drums too.
4.7/5
"Disengage the Simulator"
This sounds like grunge, also that cover is from the slasher film Sleepaway Camp. Fun movie. Pretty decent actually. Budgie if you like this, how are you not an Alice in Chains fan? Or at least Stone Temple Pilots?

01.10.21 | 4. Young Enough - A decent enough power pop tune but kinda lacking anything special. Needs to figure out if it wants to go for the cutesy angle or raw vibe, ends up halfway towards either which is not a good spot. Vocal production also really annoys me, sounds like an even more polished modern nashville country vocal track. Pretty weak unfortunately. 2.8
5. Imaginary Folklore - I must admit my Nujabes knowledge is pretty lacking and this definitely reminds me I need to fix that. Easily distinguished from the thousands of weak imitators by the wonderful and varied melodies, and vocals are beautifully understated. Sound selection is impeccable. Yeah this rules. 4.6
6. Archie, Marry Me - Another band I have really been sleeping on despite my intentions to get to them, and again this further reminds me of what I'm missing me. Hits somewhere between Belle & Sebastian and Angus & Julia Stone, with the best bits of both. Incredible production as well, clear but textured and impactful. 4.4 |

01.10.21 | Major Parkinson - Ah, a military man, eh? Jolly good. Sounds like a ship's foghorn, followed by a gothy kind of dude and some unexpectedly lighthearted synth. This is interesting. I wish the vocals were a little less whispered, they're kind of low in the mix. Guess he's compensating by having the local Glee Club back him up. Still, pretty decent song. 3.5 |

Take Your Skin Off and Dance - More eerie stuff... ah, they're just drunk as fuck. I can respect that. 3.5/5
Trusty and True - 8 mins, this better be beautiful as hell.... Ok it was actually very nice. 4/5
Huddle Formation - Oh I know this one. Good fun. 3.7/5

Feels like the penultimate track in a movie that thinks it’s better than it actually is. The vocalist thinks he’s hot shit, but he’s really hot shit. The synth work is nice (though cheese), but the pretentious presentation is very offputting. 2.1/5 |

Yeah, but that shouldn't stop you. There are times I post stuff that I know is gonna get killed, but I post it because it's the song I like the most that meets the theme for the month. (And there are usually at least 2 or 3 people who like it.) Then there are the times I post something that's fairly innocuous, and it still gets killed. (Like last month.) And every once in awhile, I post something I think might get killed, and it actually goes over pretty well with most people. (Like this month.) In the end, I just post what I like. And if the group doesn't like it, I just roast them in my blog for their lousy taste. :) |

01.13.21 | Trusty and True - Oh man, I’ve been waiting for this. Rice has a beautiful soul, and it always shows in his music. This feels like a traditional Irish battle march, he always plays around with new genres and themes to keep his subtle acoustic style sounding fresh, and he really nails this atmosphere. I’d bet folky Irish songs are pretty tied to his heritage. Love how he says “fellaz.” I think the length is justified, there’s a pretty significant shift in tone halfway thru the song which keeps the melodies from sounding stale. And the melody! It’s just brilliant, this song’s hooks are officially stuck with me. Take a seat Jethro, there’s a new #1 in town. 4.7/5 |

01.18.21 | Os Mutantes - Yokoesque opening notes, followed by annoying music. (Nice, if silly, pictures, though.) Song kind of catches a groove and stays there, though. It kind of buzzes like a bumblebee. (Is that what they're singing about?) I don't know. 2.6 |

01.19.21 | 9. Disengage the Simulator - 3.8 - Hey I think I know this one, it tickles my memory somehow. Yeah I get why you would find this uplifting/euphoric. I really liked the recurring guitar motif.
10. Jonah - 4.3 - Owh yeah this is my jam. Always found Major Parkinson to be a really odd band in the prog spectrum. But this song is really good, I love the way it builds up with choirs at the end and even though the 80's synth thing might be a little overdone for some, I still enjoy it a lot. Good rec bro!
11. Take Your Skin Off and Dance - 4.2 - Ha this is a lot of fun. Enjoyed the gypsy vibes. Might put on the album later, this really peaked my interest.

01.19.21 | Jerome Sydenham And Kerri Chandler - Slow synth. Then fast cymbals. Then a cool electronic bass pattern. Then full percussion. Textbook build. Guess this is gonna be all instrumental house music. Playful little synth thingy. I don't know. It's OK, but it's not my thing. Oh wait, it's not over. Damn, it's gonna be more than 6 minutes long. Sigh. (Looking at watch. OK, that was a lie. I don't actually wear a watch. Or rings, or anything. I hate having stuff around my arms and fingers. I hate when you go somewhere and they make you wear wrist bands. I have hairy arms, and the sticky part always sticks to my arm hairs and pulls them. Ow! It sucks when that happens. ... Wait, what were we talking about again? Oh right, this song.) Six minutes in now, should be almost done. Would have given it a 3, but minus .2 points for the length. 2.8 |

01.20.21 | Third Eye Blind - Yeah, I always liked this song, even though my wife and I always referred to it as the testicle song (well, I did, anyway), because that one note just sounds like somebody grabbed the singer's testicles and gave them a hard squeeze. (There's another, much slower, song on the LP where the testicle torturer in question gives them an even worse squeeze, and maybe even a twist. We need more testicle songs in 2021.) 3.5 |

01.20.21 | Rising the Sun - Help, I'm dancing and I can't stop! Reminds me of Trif's rec. I think I like this a bit more. The tones of the various synths and pads are super nice. Nothing too in your face. Not the craziest track in the world, but it makes me feel good. 3.3/5 |

01.20.21 | Semi-Charmed Life - I could write a whole ass essay on this, but its already been written countless times. The way this song toes the line between disgusting lyrics about the mentality of addiction, and Kellogg's Frosted Flakes Punk-Rock, is frankly inspiring. There are no rules. It might not be your favorite genre, but this is not just a 90's anthem, it's THE 90's Anthem. 5/5 |

01.25.21 | Hey Sandy: hmm... I certainly don’t hate this but it’s kinda in one ear out the other. I’d bet this band has other songs that are more up my alley. AYE AYE AYE AYE is catchy and there’s a reverbed out guitar near the end of the song that gave it some neat flavor. 3.1/5 |

01.25.21 | Snow Brigade: Ok, this is really good. The drums are so tight, yet still have some frantic energy, in a good way. This has the power of an explosive metal band, but that’s def not their preferred genre tag. More like an alt/indie act with powerful instrumentation, gives me Silverson Pickups vibes. There’s a tasteful rhythmic break midway thru the song that I fuks with, and the song wraps up with some ethereal and ghastly synthesizers to spook us out the door. 4.4/5 |
ArsMoriendi
01.25.21 | "Jonah"
Creepy and a bit EBM? Wait now it's more modern dance sounding. There's a certain grandeur to it. Why does this seem like Doofcore. He likes this gruff reminiscent stuff. The violin's cool I guess or synth violin? Overall, pretty decent.
3.6/5
"Take Your Skin Off and Dance"
Kinda ska, kinda bland. I don't love the vocals, but that brass solo was cool and mellow.
3.1/5
"Trusty and True"
Simple emotion folk. Not exactly boring, but not exactly something that's standing out to me. A bit overlong though.
3/5
"Huddle Formation"
Good 90s indie rock for sure. I like the vocals, the guitar, the overall atmosphere. Yeah, the euphoria is coming. Simple and effective. Might have to get more into these guys someday.
4.5/5
"Water Curses"
"If we sing this super-fast, maybe no one will notice that this is boring as fuck." Oh, it's offbeat now, I mean that's kinda cool. Man, his voice is so not for me.
2.5/5 |
ArsMoriendi
01.25.21 | "Damn Daniel"
Naming a song after a dead meme? Why though? Maybe it's a coincidence. Despite this, I can appreciate the mix of modern hip hop and 80s percussion for some reason since it makes it seem fresh and original. Better than most modern radio type pop I've heard.
3.2/5
"Operation Lifesaver AKA Mint Test"
Short, but memorable. I like the samples.
3.7/5
"LTM"
Tropical dance music ugh. Man, this is boring as fuck. Potsy is the new Drifter, recing the same artist over and over. Oh, trap snares...perfect. At least the main artist has a more engaging voice than Keta.

I like brass OK sometimes, but it's not my favorite class of instrument. Still, this isn't bad. Song is almost 7 minutes long, though. I'm a busy man. And now we're having one of those quiet interludes where a couple of guys get to show off. Fine. I'll just enjoy my French Roast until you guys are all ready to play again. ... 01.27.21 | Shiny - What the hell Johnny. OK they namedrop Pokémon. That's good. The rest is super silllllllyyyyyyyyy. Huge attitude though. 2.0
Hoppípolla - Never liked Sigur. The nasal quality and the sugary sweet nostalgia/sentimentality of it just don't do it for me. The strings are euphoric, I at least see that! 2.0
Chatroom - Uplifting, poppy, energetic. Yes I can see this fits the theme. That chorus especially. Not too keen on the vox. Hype is real. Gets me pumped. Best track yet. 2.6
Imaginary Folklore - Yeah I like Nujabes, although I like his peers more (DJ Krush!!!!). Still, can't ignore those hip hop beats combined with the twinkly piano and layer of sunlight haze. 3.8
Archie, Marry Me - Another huge chorus! Like the grainy/lo-fi dreampoppiness of this, drums/guitar especially are cute. 3.9 |

01.27.21 | Life Is A Long Song - Never Tull'd before, despite seeing this piper dude on JamieTwort's avi all the time during my long lurking years on here. Really dig the guitar tone and how it's mixed almost like a harpsichord in a way, so sharp and plinky. Vox are nice as well. Hmm, yeah I dig, especially with those drums adding a cool layer even more so with the introduction of the strings at the end. Cool! 3.8
Big A Little A - Hmm, punky! Drums are lovely, energy level is nicely stompy, vox are cool. Like it! Definitely would jump around the room with legs and arms going everywhere after hearing this enough times. It is a bit long though. 3.6
Disengage The Simulator - Love this track, you've been kind enough to rec it to me before budgie and it stayed with me. Best so far this month. Exactly on the right side of approachable and immediate (and, dare I say it, radio-friendly?) yet without losing punch. 4.3
Jonah - Cool retro synths. Vox are Tom Waits meets Mark Lanegan. I get the hype too. It might be just a tad too cheesy for me, but definitely enjoyable! 3.3
Take Your Skin Off And Dance - Hahahaha Myth this is amazing! Love the brass band and honky-tonk/gypsy/vaudeville feel. Those drums in the quiet section around 1:40 are superb, and this manages to remain diverse and interesting enough to keep it from being just novelty/gimmicky stuff. Vox are on the verge of being too much, but it still works! Reminds me of Sarah McCoy in a way, you should check her out, although her approach is much more bare-bones (ha! on-topic!). 3.4 |
Trifolium
01.27.21 | Trusty And True - On the verge of overly sentimental once again, but he has enough feeling behind his voice to push it over the edge. I can't stand this type of strings though, so way too romantic and syrupy. Yuck. Luckily there's an organ blocking out most of them. Also it's way too long. 2.3
Huddle Formation - Mega energetic. Super dig this beat too. Simple riffs and melody, with some nicely strange vox. This is cool! Fits the theme very nicely too! Yet I understand why it's only just over three minutes, shouldn't have lasted a lot longer. 3.5
Water Curses - This is anxiety inducing by its busy jittery nature. Eek. Afraid it's not for me. 1.5
Damn Daniel - Hmmmm, I don't know. It's not even as annoying as you'd think it would be. I do certainly see its hyping, euphoric potential. Happy it doesn't last longer than three minutes though... 3.0
Operation Lifesaver (aka Mint Test) - Feels like a palette cleanser, don't like the samples used at the end, but that production is phenomenal. Never heard the album before, I must confess, perhaps I should give it a go one day. But as a stand alone song: 3.0 |

Rising The Sun - OCCY OMG!!! !! Why did you not yet make me listen to this!?!??! Love it. House indeed is a feeling. Super mega house, super mega euphoric, super mega me. 4.3
Semi Charmed Life - Those doodoodoos are nice, haha! The subsequent super late-90s-early-00s-y alt rockishness isn't super much my thing, but this did put a smile on my face. And it is super infectious so I guess a 3.8 is in order! It convinces me more and more that it is actually very solid.

Yup, this is house music alright. House music with a flute! Pretty good energy to is, so yeah this would be cool in a dance club. I'm getting bored of this though. In the right place, this would be a bop.
3/5
"Semi-Charmed Life"
Could we not? Famous as hell catchy pop rock about crystal meth addiction. Forgot about that brief spacey part. Fighting against nostalgia, I'm gonna say this song is pretty meh. Maybe even a bit annoying.
2.5/5
"20 Buck Spin"
How is this from 1985? It sounds like it's from 1970, production and all! This isn't for me, but I guess in a technical way it's cool. If you like long indistinct shredding that is. I'm picky with shredding solos and this ain't doing it for me.
2.8/5
"Hey Sandy"
Sounds like R.E.M., but more lo-fi. It works really well for what it is, even if I don't really have much of a desire to hear more from them.
3.5/5
"Snow Brigade"
The atmosphere is nice, the guitar and bass are nice. The drums are cool enough, but I don't really like this guy's voice.
3.3/5
"Head Spirit (For Our Mechanical Time)"
Cool as hell percussion. Sounds like rattling bones like something from Tom Waits' Bone Machine. The vocals sound like they were recorded a mile away from everything else, which is kind of lame. This is the kind of neo-psych I don't really like. It's so repetitive and pulsing when it could've had a cool melody instead. I don't know. +1 for that sick percussion though.
2.6/5 |
ArsMoriendi
01.27.21 | "My Friend's a Liquid"
Good bass right off the bat, and colorful guitar. Vocals are only okay, but they're not in the way or anything. This was pleasant stuff.

"What About Me?"
Ooh, jazz fusion! I like the drums in this guitar solo section more than the guitar actually. These drums are really dominating this song and I love it! The rest of this is cool and all, but let's be real this is a drums song.
3.9/5
"Breadcrumb Trail"
I know this song already, but I have a lot to say anyway. My god does Slint's vocalist have such a poindexter nerd type voice. The guitar, bass, drums, and lyrics are all quite good of course.

Head Spirit (For Our Mechanical Time) - When listening to psych music, I split it into two categories. 1) The artists got zonked and used their experiences and feelings of euphoria to accentuate their natural songwriting abilities. & 2) The artists got so zonked that they couldn't even hold a conversation, let alone make enjoyable music, and then made music. Guess which category this falls in. 2.3/5

Alright, so this is about as indulgent as that Jonah song, with its constant, in-your-face riffing, technical time signatures, and generous amount of time given to solos. But these guys back it the fuck up. Stoopid technical, and yet the melody is accessible and so much fun. 4.5/5 |
Divaman
01.30.21 | Melt-Banana - Flurry of crazed noise and sirens. Screaming, but low in the mix. 2.8 |
Egarran
01.30.21 | Breadcrumb Trail - It was nice until he started singing, that was a bit rough. Ugghh that verse riff reminds me so much of another song but I can't - 3/5
Paycheck - Not bad! Sweet energy. Something very 90s about this. 3.7/5
I Am the Resurrection - Speaking of, I think this album directed the british scene towards excellence. That beginning 60's snare drum always annnoyed me, but then... As a commenter correctly says: "Every normal song would end at 3:40 ....and some folks would say that it begins right there!" I am some folks. 4.2/5
Warp, Back Spin - Ahh Johnnycore. Can't deny it's next level. But damn. 2.6/5
I Heard It Through The Grapevine - If this makes minus happy, it makes me happy. 3/5 |
ArsMoriendi
01.30.21 | "Paycheck"
Pretty generic-sounding modern indie rock. Meh.
2.5/5
"I Am the Resurrection"
Very 60s pop, but it's from the 80s. It's not bad, but maybe it could be a bit more colorful since it's trying to capture the magic of the British Invasion band. I ike the solo though.
3.2/5
"Warp, Back Spin"
Those vocals are so drowned out. The riffs are so much less catchy than the stuff on Fetch and Cell-Scape. This is disappointing, actually.
2.8/5
"Cut"
Good bass. Oh, it's an "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" cover. Wait Minus you've shown me this before. Ooh, that percussion is nice too. And her voice rules too and that weird background moaning. Can post-punk parties be a thing? This would get that dancefloor out and about. OOH, THAT BASS GOT EVEN BETTER. Yeah, this song rules.

01.31.21 | Hey Sandy - Always like spacey intro's, the rest is nicely happy and upbeat, short and sweet. Guitars are colourful and twinkly. Nothing else much going on here. 3.4
Snow Brigade - That bass sound is superb. For some reason never checked Mew, despite seeing them mentioned often. Energy levels are nicely high, but that guitar/bass/drum combo is what I love most about this. During the verses. 3.5
Head Spirit (Of Our Mechanical Time) - The rhythm stuff is nice, the rest is a bit too murky. I get that this would be a wish-it-went-on-forever kind of song if you'd like it, but for the casually-ok-ish kind of track that it is for me, the length is on the verge of being too much. 3.0
My Friend's A Liquid - Oooh, psychedelic indeed! Am on a psych-binge, so this fits in nicely. Another of those have-heard-about-them-forever/have-never-checked kind of bands. Really dig it! Wish I dug the vox more though. 3.6
What About Me? (We Like It Here) - Seen Snarky a bunch of times, including with the Metropole Orkest, and boy were these evenings funky! Lovely collective, certainly fit well with the theme too Scheumke. Can't help but vibe~!! Always wish they'd tone down the electrical elements a tiny bit (synths and guitars), more of an acoustic lover. 4.0 |

01.31.21 | Breadcrumb Trail - Hmmm, yes, great track obviously. Not too euphoric to me, yet I could see why it would convey these feelings for others. Still, can't deny Spiderland's greatness. 4.2
Paycheck - Distortion is tasssstttyyy here, vox aren't for me (accent is quite strong) plus don't really like the mix. Too polished/glossy/loud/monotonous. Still, not bad! 2.8
I Am The Resurrection - Another of these classics-that-Trif-hasn't-heard bands. A zak rec, so of course I like it, love the slightly melancholy happiness of this. It's fair and square in this 90s sound (despite being from the 80s!), which is a massive plus in my book. Nicely clean, crisp, loving production, where individual instruments have room to breathe and can be admired on their own. An underappreciated feat in music. 3.8
Warp, Back Spin - Noise has been used to describe this group. So much noise in fact, that bananas would melt. I could see that happen. Don't like this, sorry! 2.0
I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Nice! Love the sound of this, of course the OG track is a classic, but I like the Blondie-ness of this cover. If that makes sense. Very cool track Minus! 4.2

01.31.21 | Breadcrumb Trail - Oh wow, those vox really aren’t good. But I love this kinda nerdy shit. The way the guitar and drums compliment eachother to create a brooding atmosphere is really cool. But yeah, vox leave some to be desired, I can’t tell what he’s saying. Maybe some production tricks could’ve helped? 3.9/5 |

01.31.21 | Paycheck - That blaring synth throughout a lot of the song is really annoying... I thought my speaker was busted. This type of songwriting isn’t my thing at all, either. I swear I don’t hate all female vocalists. 2.2/5 |

01.31.21 | I Am the Resurrection - I’m familiar with Stone Roses, really like what I’ve heard. “Shoot You Down” is a perfect song. So I have high hopes. First few minutes are tight, mildly catchy. Song really picks up when he name drops the song title, tho. He’s doin the Jesus. Second half of the song fucking jamsss, they are channeling some abbey road medley vibes here. Why do people not like long songs? More to love. 4.3/5 |

01.31.21 | Warp, whatever - Whoever posted this is a psychopath. Also, is “an euphoric” proper English? 1/5 |

01.31.21 | Heard Through the Grapevine - Cut really do be out here saving my perception of the female genre of human (vocalist). Classic cover of a classic song. From the outset, the hums create such an intriguing atmosphere, and then that phat bass kicks in and, it's OVER, ur grooving. "I heard it through the bassline" is a clever line. The way she warbles her voice like a banshee is way too cool, take notes Slingshot Dakota. 4.6/5

02.03.21 | 9. Disengage The Simulator: feels like a standard rock song from the 90s. The voice is strange, both likeable and odd at times. It gives that sense of carelessness, though, so I probably lean on digging it. 3.0
10. Jonah: ohh, love me some Major Parkinson and though I haven't listened in years, this still suonds catchy and interesting! 4.0
11. Mine, lol
12. Trusty and True: Damien Rice is so likeable and his voice is soft and depressing. I haven't listened to his discography, only some hits, but this was so beautiful and evolved naturally. 4.2.
13. Huddle Formation: dreamy and with an ear-worm melody repeating in the background vocals, but I'd like something more. 3.3.
14. Water Curses: this was a goofball of a song, and I liked it, although I admit it did tire me in its short time. 3.3
15. DAMN DANIEL : yo this is fire and has potential 3.0
16. Operation Lifesaver aka Mint Test: first time listening to Madvillain. Promising start, but went nowhere. 2.5.
17. LTM : Lorde Pots with yet another Miss Keta song. This time not as good as the video 2.0
18. Não Vá Se Perder Por Aí: this has potential - it's humorous enough, and pleasant, but I'd like a strong underlying idea other than going up the scale in a Beatles-like fashion. 3.0
19. Rising the Sun: that's cool, and great sounds, too. Can see it playing in a party in summer and that's usually a good thing. 3.5.
20. Semi Charmed Life: from the cover, I expected sth like Anacrusis or Coroner, but nope, Smash Mouth it is... It's by the numbers 00's rock. Harmless and good for an open-car ride with classmates in the USA. 2.5.
21. 20 Buck Spin: now THIS is some groovy proto-metal shit. Never bothered with Pentagram, but I loved this. 4.5.
22. Hey Sandy: at first it was good, the vocals then kicked in and they felt a bit raw. Not bad, nothing stunning, though. I can see the warm feeling after years of listening to it, though. The bass sound is spot on. 3.1.
23. Snow Brigade: hmm, didn't quite feel this one. Passed me by. 2.5

Mythodea
02.04.21 | 24. Head Spirit (For Our Mechanical Time): this had the ''cathartic feeling early in a summer morning'' vibe, like a rough night has just ended. Very touching 4.3
25. My Friend's A Liquid: I might not enjoy PPC as much as I would like to, but this guitar lead was hot. 4.0
26. What About Me?: If I was a jazz enthusiast, this would gert a 5, but I'm not. Watching them play does enhance the experience, though. 4.0
27. Breadcrumb Trail: this made me feel like the ballon in my belly is from IT. 3.9
28. Paycheck: I actually liked the low tones on this one, buzzing all the way. One of the songs I'm keeping from this list. 4.5
29. I Am the Resurrection: this was cool and long, and I agree there are some groovy parts that can make you dance anywhere. 3.7.
30. Warp, backspin: I don't get the low ratings. This felt like a pill of energy. Unorthodox, but still cool. 3.5.
31. I Heard It Through The Grapevine: Yeah, this one is engaging right from the start. I love tha bass tone and the beat, and her voice on top is just awesome. I'm a sucker for steady 4/4 songs with a sense of groove. 5.
