Top 15 Singles Of 2006
top fifteen singles of 2006!! |
1 | Chamillionaire Ridin'
with this single chamillionaire made white people across america feel black again. a feat not reached since 1992, with sir mix-a-lot's 'baby got back.' that and with the outrageous success of weird al's own 'white and nerdy' (the video even made it on millionaire's myspace) chamillionaire is the only choice for hit single of 2006. |
2 | Justin Timberlake SexyBack
i have to hand it to justin; he's come a long way from nsync days. even though he has stayed true to his roots in the pop-phenomena, the boy still proves to be brave with his sound. just ask timbaland, three 6 maffia and t.i. all who threw down some lyrics on his futuresex/lovesounds. |
3 | Peaches Tent In Your Pants
peaches came out of the park with this track. lines like, "if there's a housing crisis in the n anymore need a place to go, you gotta open the door" and "hurts so good i gotta soregasm" if anything, 'tent' says peaches is here to stay. |
4 | The Format Time Bomb
'dog problems' was my first experience with the format. but i'll tell you what, it's the album that had the most play. |
5 | Destroyer Painter in Your Pocket
Where did you get that line?
Where did you get that look?
Where did you get that penchant for destruction in the way you talk?
Where did you get that ride?
Where did you get that rocket?
Where did you get that painter in your pocket?
why didn't you get this yet? |
6 | Johnny Cash God's Gonna Cut You Down
'nuff said. |
7 | Two Gallants Long Summer Day
i found this story to be a powerful one. one of those few songs that allow you to feel emotion. plus the harmonica is bitchin' (yes, so bitchin' i can bring back the 90's) other songs to check out 'las cruces jail' and 'steady rollin.' |
8 | The Coup I Love Boosters!
as an outspoke political collaboration of boots riley and dj pam the funkstress, 'pick a bigger weapon' the duo's fifth album packs a slap, mostly to bush's face. but our ears as well. 'boosters!' is my favorite ditty, because i too LOVE boosters. |
9 | Islands Swans (Life After Death)
odds are most people would pick 'rough gem' and yes, that may be a great song (after all how many artist can make a song about their last name?) yet, with the opening track 'swans' i was hooked. as a huge fan of the unicorns i was saddened to hear of their demise. and, here they are; renamed and re-manned. but don't let that fool ya, when you hear the 9:31 song, you'll understand that their is life in their death. |
10 | Sunset Rubdown They Took a Vote and Said No |
11 | TV on the Radio Let the Devil In |
12 | My Chemical Romance Welcome to the Black Parade |
13 | Tokyo Police Club Nature Of The Experiment |
14 | Belle & Sebastian Sukie in the Graveyard |
15 | The Raconteurs Store Bought Bones |
