| Seaanemone's Recs Ranked
Eric gave me a bunch of emo/hardcore recs a while ago and he
wanted me to let him know how I like them. Well, here's my reply, in
list form. Thanks Eric, I got some really great stuff from your list of
recs! | 8 | | Dag Nasty Can I Say (Reissue)
I wasn't too into this. It was good though 3/5 | 7 | | Hoover The Lurid Traversal of Route 7
I really like this album, I need to give it a few more listens before I decide if
it's a 3.5 or a 4 (but it's below a 3.5 on this list so probably 3.5, but it feels
like kind of a grower so who knows) | 6 | | Honeywell Discography
The only thing that bugged me about this was the length. I know it's not a
"proper" album, it's their discography, but this would be an easy 4 if it was
like thirty minutes shorter. It gets old by the end (for me). Still a wicked
good album. A 3.5 for now. | 5 | | Navio Forge As We Quietly Burn A Hole Into...
Way too good for 1993. Really really REALLY good emo. 4/5 | 4 | | Angel Hair Pregnant With The Senior Class
Album title win. This album is flooring, almost a 4.5. 4/5 for now. | 3 | | Shotmaker / Maximillian Colby Split
This has three ratings; you guys are fucking idiots (as was I a couple of
weeks ago, calling myself a fan of emo yet not having heard this, ridiculous.
This split is da bomb. Maximillian Colby's side is better, but Shotmaker's is
awesome too. Absolutely essential emo listening. 4.5/5 | 2 | | Off Minor Some Blood
ok well this wasn't a direct Sea rec, but he was being all "blah blah this is
better than The Heat Death Of The Universe" on an Off Minor thread so I
decided to finally getting around to hearing it. He's wrong, but it's Off
Minor, so it's at least a 4 by default. 4.5/5 (Heat Death is a 5) | 1 | | Maximillian Colby Discography
I can't believe I had not heard this before just recently. Absolutely criminal,
this is one of the greatest emo albums of all time. Anyone with at least a
passing in punk music would be doing themselves a huge disservice if they
don't listen to this. 4.5/5, maybe a 5 in time, thanks Eric. | |

03.04.11 | agree with much of this... trust me, Hoover will grow on you, I disliked it at first too... I never listen to that Honeywell discography all at once, too much to handle... and haha you should know better to say "too good for __ (year)" now! there's a plethora of unrecognized (by sputnik) emo stuff that came out pre-1995 that's amazing (I'd say I probably only know a small small portion of it... stalk snackarybinx and the forums for more) | FatChickIrl
03.04.11 | I should make of list of the music i found cuz of Sea | SeaAnemone
03.04.11 | Yeah you should FatChickIrl | TMobotron
03.04.11 | yeah i fucking love off minor, ive never heard some blood either though. It's like I love heat death and innominate so much that i dont want to listen to some blood because then i wont have any more off minor that i can still listen to.
also i just made a screamo digs list of things that aren't quite as obvious as the saetias and cttss of the world but still somewhat essential if you want more you should check some of those out: http://www.sputnikmusic.com/list.php?listid=67564 | SeaAnemone
03.04.11 | some blood is pretty drastically different from their other stuff
| TMobotron
03.04.11 | im okay with that. have you checked out any of their splits? | Aids
03.04.11 | "Hoover will grow on you, I disliked it at first too..." man what is with this site lately? 3.5=great haha come on sea, you should know better. but yah, I feel like it's better than a 3.5, the numbers didn't make sense when I made the list though....oh sputnik raitngs
and Off Minor => Best skramz band | Narshh
03.04.11 | I always thought some blood was slightly better then Heat Death...the female vocals on the closer really get to me.. | SeaAnemone
03.04.11 | oh I know you didn't dislike it... haha trust me I try to refrain from rating-inflation... I mean I didn't "get" it at first... probably would have started at a 3 now it's a 4-4.5 | porch
03.04.11 | aids i remember you complaining about anti-hype because king of limbs had an average rating of "only" 3.9 | Aids
03.04.11 | good O_O | Aids
04.21.11 | "aids i remember you complaining about anti-hype because king of limbs had an average rating of "only" 3.9"
don't know why I didn't see this earlier but personal ratings =/= album averages. compared to other Radiohead albums, 3.9 is really low. I don't think it's one of their worst albums at all so I was surprised, yeah. nice post though. |
