11.11.11 | Finding Nostalgia to be okay. Nothing special, fairly boring, but not terrible. Perhaps I'm missing something though... who the fuck cares? Are Christians not allowed to make music in varying genres? There aren't even lyrics in this song. It's music. Not great music, but music. Bitching about it being Christian is about as gay as bitching about NSBM being NS. WHO CARES. |

11.11.11 | It's not that I care so much as what kinda music Christians want to make, some of my favorite bands happen to be Christian. It's mainly the fact that some Christians found something "wrong" with dubstep and had to put a religious spin on it that's all. Did you read the forum link I posted above? |
Waior
11.11.11 | nope. |

That link zion posted or this one:

would be much better examples of christians not making christianity any better, just making dubstep worse. (to quote Hank Hill) |
Zion
11.11.11 | I read it, but without having read it I would have never known there was a Christian spin on that track, which was what I was getting at. It's all good though. I was a bit harsh in my reply. |

11.12.11 | this is just boring |
Waior
11.12.11 | yeah, I looked at the thread. nothing crazy, really - when christians talk about a "representative" in a genre (or anywhere in life), they really just mean they want somebody in there who isn't a drugged-up, expletive-laden morality-hijacker. a "positive influence", i guess. so, let them have their "clean" artist or two, it shouldn't bother anybody else and all we have to do is just not care |
someguest

11.12.11 | I just don't see how this should be an issue of any relevance. I get that for some it may be an issue, that lyrical content would consist of religious propaganda but this is instrumental electronic music, so.... |

Vesper

Yes! Bang on. He Is Legend were always saying "we are in no way a Christian band... we all enjoy music, we all enjoy playing our instruments, so if we had to be classified as anything it would be a 'band' band or 'music' band."
"Although Christianity was much better for the arts a few centuries ago than it is now..."
Goes without saying.. |
Deviant.
11.12.11 | People play on the whole christian aspect far too much. Sure, it definitely influences the artist(s) to some degree but at the end of the day it's simply a case of "we're musicians who also happen to be religiously inclined" |

You should read Rookmaaker's Modern Art and the Death of a Culture. It's supposedly the go-to text for Christianity in the arts, and was a call of sorts for Christian artists at the time (the 60s) to bring back "the truth" through their work as opposed to the nihilistic despair of their secular, degenerate counterparts.
Clearly, it did not happen. But it's still an interesting read. |
