Megadeth Done t Deth
Slow af discog walk the last few months and now according to my Applemusic stats, Megadeth are my most listened to band this year. Ridiculous innit |
1 | | Megadeth Rust in Peace
Their magnum opus with their definitive line up. All songs instantly recognizable and riffs n solos for days.
Fav song Hangar 18 |
2 | | Megadeth Youthanasia
Dave’s best vocal performance and featuring interesting songs with a warm sound that transcends their thrash boundaries. An album greater than the sum of its parts. This was my last cassette tape I bought before they were phased out.
Fav song I Thought I Knew It All |
3 | | Megadeth Countdown to Extinction
A clinical move to accessibility with a stacked song list and great dual solos. These songs are in my DNA.
Fav song Symphony of Destruction |
4 | | Megadeth So Far, So Good... So What!
Starts with a finger tapping guitar solo instrumental and ends with the most Megadeth riff OAT in Hook In Mouth. The songs in between are classic bar the cover song.
Fav song Hook In Mouth |
5 | | Megadeth Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?
Wake Up Dead and Peace Sells are peak Megadeth and together with the supporting tracks provided huge inspiration for all later forms of tech thrash and tech death metal.
Fav song Wake Up Dead (best Megadeth video as well) |
6 | | Megadeth Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!
A great debut with songs that introduce their style of jazzy and technical thrash metal.
Fav song: Last Rites/Loved to Deth |
7 | | Megadeth The World Needs a Hero
An underrated and understated return to form that brings together a culmination of their sounds to that point of time.
Fav song Recipe for Hate … Warhorse |
8 | | Megadeth Dystopia
Megadeth in their most modern metal form with great playing from all members and solid songs from go to whoa.
Fav song Poisonous Shadows |
9 | | Megadeth The System Has Failed
The least collaborative Megadave album is catchy on one hand but a bit dubious on the other. Sometimes I like this album, sometimes it’s yawn inducing.
Fav song Back in the Day (which is very Maideny) |
10 | | Megadeth Cryptic Writings
A collection of easygoing hard rock songs that each have a little hook and work together well as an album. At the time though I had stopped listening to them. Got back on board later.
Fav song She-Wolf |
11 | | Megadeth Endgame
A tad overrated imo. This Day We Fight, The Hardest Part and Head Crusher are the main takeaways. What other songs does everyone enjoy here
Fav song This Day We Fight |
12 | | Megadeth Super Collider
Despite some eek rhyming lyrics this actually has the basis for a good metal album with some interesting playing and riffs and solos. I can see the musical progression to the next album the excellent Dystopia.
Fav song Beginning of Sorrow |
13 | | Megadeth United Abominations
First 2 songs are good but then it falls off a cliff.
Fav song Sleepwalker |
14 | | Megadeth The Sick, the Dying... and the Dead!
I really wanted to like this one but it leaves me cold. Later spins are even worse than the initial spins.
Fav song We’ll Be Back |
15 | | Megadeth Th1rt3en
Megadeth on autopilot. Some good playing but way too long and way too much singing.
Fav song Public Enemy No. 1 |
16 | | Megadeth Risk
Megadeth going to places they really shouldn’t have. They pushed the commercial envelope for mainstream acceptance with Marty Friedman wanting this rock approach more than the others.
Fav song Prince of Darkness |
