Sweeeeeeet.

| |
this year and surprise albums man
| |
Hurray, more hipster pretense. Best I buy more thick rimmed glasses for the everyman?
| |
^scorching take
| |
best band ever made
| |
can we please wipe SSSN from existence now
| |
well this is a pleasant surprise, i'm on it.
| |
To get that from SnakeDelilah is quite the honor.
| |
Best I buy more thick rimmed glasses for the everyman?
literally anybody that says this on any music website should be eradicated from said website
| |
For the stereotype, irony, or vocabulary choice?
| |
Far far better than you'd expect.
This is lovely.
| |
did they made this free because it contained shortwave radiostation samples and they didn't want to get sued by Irdial again?
| |
Perfect, I just started getting into this band too and I'm digging them hard
| |
Holy shit this is amazing
| |
Never heard Wilco before, but this is chill stuff. Must check out the rest of their discography.
| |
This is also free on iTunes in the US
| |
Hell yeah, going to jam this quite a bit.
| |
Damn straight, this rules.
| |
I must have run over Jeff Tweedy's cat or something, because I can't get the Wilco website to email me anything.
Is anyone else having trouble with this?
| |
I got it eventually, took a while though.
| |
Thanks. I just got it, too.
| |
Sweet! Really hoping this is good.
| |
It's pretty good stuff, after one listen. Hopefully it'll hold up.
| |
Sounds kinda Math rocky to me..Reminds me a fair bit of Maps & Atlases Perch Patchwork
| |
I worried it was going to be all instrumental after the first track
| |
This is just like the time NIN released The Slip. It's a straightforward, fun album (certainly not their best one) and it's free. Wilco proved they can get away with just about everything. I like it.
| |
You know what, in terms of fun Wilco tunes I already prefer Random Name Generator to Heavy Metal Drummer
| |
New album rules, feels like an in the moment jam session, raw, to the point, touches on a lot of elements in their career, I dig it. Great summer music as well.
| |
Look forward to jamming this, I spun Summerteeth this morning in celebration.
| |
I feel like this album is the closest representation to their live show.
| |
I've... never heard of this band. Got it downloaded and will check it out.
| |
I quite dig it
| |
Where Do I Begin is fantastic.
| |
"I've... never heard of this band. Got it downloaded and will check it out. "
Yankee Hotel Foxtrot may be one of the most iconic Indie Rock records of all time. Get on it, they're a very special band and perform a hell of a live show.
| |
summerteeth >>>
| |
For those who don't know Wilco, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is indeed the place to start. If you enjoy that, then I would say that for the next one that it's a tossup between Summerteeth and Being There (even though the latter is a double album.)
| |
Being There is great as well.
Also, I'll completely disagree with Yankee Hotel Foxtrot being a starting point. I consider it their best work and I don't understand why you would have someone start with the best, then it's depressing moving forward through their discography and being underwhelmed by everything else. I'd honestly recommend The Whole Love or even this new record, if you dig those then you'll be in for a treat later.
| |
YHF is a very hard starting point
| |
I think that it's best for most people to ease into things, which means giving them the most accessible stuff first. "War on War" and "Jesus, etc." are pretty well known songs for them, relatively speaking.
| |
The Whole Love is pretty accessible. This new LP is pretty straightforward as well. Even Summerteeth.
| |
surprisingly good
wilco still have some spark
| |
I used to be a huge fan of wilco when "a ghost is born" was released and that was like 10 years ago. Still respect 'em, but I miss when their music was kinda more experimental.
| |
Summerteeth is a better entry point [2].YHF is their best, but both are masterpieces, and YHF is a bit daunting.
| |
one sunday morning is probs my favorite wilco song
| |
It's definitely top 10.
| |
pretty vanilla album overall, but that last song is really really terrific.
| |
cool but fuck jeff tweedy still
| |
"Hurray, more hipster pretense. Best I buy more thick rimmed glasses for the everyman?"
If you're twelve years old you might feel that way yeah.
| |
@klap One Sunday Morning is an absolute masterpiece, it's pure bliss listening to that late at night while you're drifting off to sleep.
| |
you have to have like really low standards to think that wilco is pretentious at all
