The Contortionist premiere new old music

2015-12-01 by Kars Landman | 59 Comments
After the first news of a re-release of Exoplanet a while back, The Contortionist have given the fans another surprise. The band has 'rediscovered' 4 tracks of their latest album Language and given them a new sound. They've gone for more of an ambient/acoustic style with these versions, featuring no metal at all.

Check out the video of 'The Parable' and more info here...

...and get the album here if you like the new tracks

This sounds interesting, might go ahead and buy this version of the album given how many iTunes gift cards I've amassed over the years.

I was thinking to myself "how could they possibly top the album version of The Parable," but this is cool as shit. Might have to end up buying this and the other Rediscovered tracks.

Pre-orders for Exoplanet ship out December 17th. Bought mine as soon as a heard, that thing is impossibly awesome. I'm really into the acoustic version of Language too. I'd love to see Exoplanet Pt. 2 one day (maybe even just an EP or something..) but for now as a deathcore band going lighter, they do it in spades.

new exoplanet sounds better than original too. their label put the remastered version of Expire in some sampler back in october. also this rules but rest of the "rediscovered" tracks are kinda mediocre

huh. never really got into cynic but this is actually pretty cool. much better than the album version, at least. band has always seemed like a poor amalgamation of a bunch of other bands in this "scene."

but yeah, this aint too terrible. unfortunately highlights the awful lyrics even more than the original though.

Remaster and remixed with new keyboard recordings so Jamie King can turn it into magic!

I kinda dug this, but this "re-discovered tracks" thing feels a lot like them trying to reach to hard to those pseudo intelectual tumblr djent kidz. I mean guys cmon, like 5 years ago you were heavy as balls. Even on Intrinsic there was this deathcore thing still going at times. Still, Language kicks Intrinsic's ass so i'm not fully bitching about it.

Definitely, every artist ever should really just stick to 1 sound, let that sound define them as a person and we as fans should do the same 10/10 agreed hard m/ m/ m/
